Re: Apple found guilty of collusion on Ebook pricing

It remains to be seen if it's upheld on appeal. The reasoning behind the judgement could go either way; it depends a lot on how much responsibility you can ascribe to Apple. The publishers weren't happy with Amazon, and wanted a way out, and Apple was there. It's not so much a conspiracy as a perfec...

Re: Why Apple Will Turn to Holograms

Apple patents all kinds of stuff that never gets used. While it's interesting to think about, the technology isn't anywhere near for consumer use.

$20 million lawsuit, as I've heard. Which, although I can see the justification because of what he went through, is absurd because it's straight tax payer money. There's no personal responsibility, just like with general law enforcement.

Re: Megaupload trial could be dropped

Megaupload is, and was, in the wrong. But they went about shutting it down in entirely the wrong way, with the advice and prodding of the RIAA, and now it's about to backfire. While I don't support Megaupload, screw the RIAA.

Re: The Prince of Nothing and Why You Should Read It

Fantastic series. The ending blindsided me entirely. Tense and well written, kept me up for a few nights trying to finish it.

Please please PLEASE let this happen. Please. It's not so hard, if people would just shut up and let the scientists do the explaining and not the lobbyists and special interest groups.

Your Free Federation stuff is quite excellent. I went back and re-read Rebirth; I really hope you keep churning out stories in that verse.

The Republicans are handing Obama his reelection on a silver freaking platter. It would be funny if it wasn't so depressingly sad.

Re: Fed Audit: 16 TRILLION in Low Interest and Secret Loans

Pretty much. At the risk of sounding all conspiracy theorist, the Fed is nothing but a manufactured entity by the banking cabal doing nothing but serving it's own interest.

The Federal Reserve isn't even under the direct control of the US government. You should read "The Creature from Jekyll Island" if you have a chance.

It's less harmful than alcohol and a great deal of prescription drugs. There's no real reason why it should be illegal.

Pullo is a good guy, rough around the edges and very impulsive but his heart is in the right place. Vorenus (Scarface) is I guess the main character of the series, and the guy your heart just breaks for. The gods pile so much shit on him I'm surprised he can walk. Atia is a bitch at first, but I end...

Yeah, I was wikilinking and read a bit about the history of Vietnam. Much greater appreciation of why they fought with such tenacity; the US was just another face in a long line of aggressors.

Do it. The faster we can transition to fission, then fusion, the better off we are. Energy availability is going to be a big deal in the near future.

We don't see how Voldemort interacted with people before his first destruction, so it's possible there was some kind of charismatic buildup, descent into madness (or more accurately, revelation of the madness that had been there all along), then the reprieve. The books paint a picture of desperation...

Nuclear fission is the safest power generation technology we have available. Wind/solar/geothermal aren't bad, but they aren't as reliable and they take energy from the environment. Large wind farms screw up bird flight patters, and solar farms are LESS efficient in hot climates (the ones with all t...

How about a larger investment into things like nuclear power, battery technology, and charging station infrastructure? Really make a push. Throw in a high speed rail system to, say, the largest 20 metropolitan areas. Really leave your stamp on the American landscape.

Rightclick on Computer from the harddrive menu, Properties, in the middle under the "System" heading. This is on Win7, but it should be the same path on Vista.
