Also, once you get into The Slag Hills, quest rewards (and drops from enemies there) can give you normal and high quality versions of what the Host of the West vendors want, so you don't have to craft them all yourself. In fact, they drop often enough here that the grind to get blue or gold items for yourself is nowhere near as onerous.
