Ars technica has a VERY intresting article on the new Core architecture, I reccomend anyone intresting in hardware read it

From what I can tell;

This looks like it could possibly be much smoother to run than any other chips on the market. Much less slowdown and overheating due to the lack of clocking-up, while at the same time having some pretty damn decent power in there. At least that's what I got from the article, feel free to correct any inaccuracy.

I was worried I'd got that wrong.

I've only studied the hardware side of a computer once or twice, and my lessons in college on the subject are lacking at best. I blame the fact that my teacher got ill halfway through the course, however, more than the lessons themselves.

I'm much better at graphical-design and coding. Give me variables, strings, looping commands to sort out into something workable and/or an image to photoshop, and I'll do it in a heartbeat.

One of the things that interests me is how quickly will compilers take advantage of whats offered here, or if that is neccesary at all. Compilers should be able to further tweak programs to work with Core, however, its also possible Core itself can play with the instructions themselves to make that needless.

This looks really interesting. I have nothing to say that the article didn't say much better than I could, except I want one, and I really want to see what AMD does to answer this in the next generation.
