24 minutes of gameplay and commentary, here's the rough breakdown:
Gorgeous capital ship combat simulator, done in a mixing of styles between MOBAs such as League of Legends and, well, normal multiplayer objective based combat. Each ship is a class, with different abilities and play styles, and you fight over objectives. It's going to be Free to Play as many MOBAs are, so expect things like alternative skins for real world dollars or unlocking new ship types.
The combat looks and feels pretty fun. Ships feel appropriately tough or glassy depending on their type, and each ship has a role to play.
Downside, it's multiplayer only, for now. There's talk of a co-op episodic campaign, which could be pretty sweet, but that's down the pipe. So if you're not interested in intense PvP combat, this game may not appeal to you. Also, it's in Alpha. Damn good looking Alpha, I'll grant, but Alpha all the same.
In similar game territory, I found Fractured Space on Steam not too long ago, which is a similarly styled game, not quite as good looking, but not a bad looking or playing game either. It's Early Access, so, uh, yeah. Early Access games are kind of a crapshoot at times, and so it's basically a playable alpha or beta, but, hey, it's playable, unlike Dreadnought.
Still, it's nice that large ship combat is something more game developers are looking at and saying "we can do this".
