#1 Firefox 2 Beta 1 released

Available here.
Reading through the information, I can see it is finally getting one feature that I have come to like in Konqueror and elinks, but there is one thing I don't like with their implementation.
Controlling spell checking in HTML forms
Ugh ugh ugh. While HTML is expandable so it can take unknown attributes without hurting anything, this still stinks as a proprietary extension added to HTML by browser developers instead of the W3C who are supposed to be making the standards.
Remember the Internet Explorer vs Netscape wars that produced garbage like <font> <blink> and <marquee>? Well, looks like Firefox is going down that same path to their own ``standard", while the folks at Redmond are now the ones sticking to the W3C recommendation.
The tables have turned, and it is still disgusting.
EDIT: And reading through more, I see they are indeed adding more tags, such as a <canvas> tag for scripting 2d graphics. I actually think that is a good idea, but it is not in the standard, not even in a W3C draft. They got this from a "working group draft", which is a mailing list Apple started up to basically make stuff up and call it a "standard". Sound familiar?
Fucking disgusting.
