Okay, this looks good, wanky, but good

If the game's even a quarter as good as this looks, we'll have a really good Star Wars game on our hands. My hope is that they just don't screw it up.

I beg to differ. DBZ-style shit is several ballparks away in "Individuals can blow up planets"-ville, while this vid still remains in the realms of the EU novels and the Clone Wars microseries. Hell, it's much less wanky than the Clone Wars Microseries, and given the fact that Jedi can do impressive telekinetic feats (Revenge of the Sith, Yoda vs Palpatine), this video isn't all that far from what's shown in the movies.

It looks pretty stupid to be honest.

The only SW game I'll even consider picking up is KOTOR 3. But like hell that's going to happen.

Meh. Tomb Raider in Star Wars universe, or another Jedi Knight. I'm actually longing for a Star Destroyer Star Wars game; something like Destroyer Command or Task Force 1942. And yes, BDZ included.

And of course, a TIE Fighter game whose gameplay resembles Flight of the Intruder or Total Air War, where you can direct multiple flights during the course of the mission (not just "Attack my target", "Ignore target", etc).

I honestly don't care if it's wanktastic or not. It looks, dare I say it, fun! Which, as far as I'm concerned, trumps anything like "canon" or "continuity."

Exactly!

Who the fuck really cares if it's wanktastic provided it's wanktastic and fun at the same time? (Unless, naturally, they have a 5" wide stick up their arse, in which case we here in the 'fun camp' offer sympathy and cringe while doing so.) That's what a lot of gamers seem to be forgetting these days - sacrificing a shitload of fun for the sake of a shitload of 'realism'.

For some of us wanking isn't fun, it's annoying.

That video looks neither wanky nor good. While most of the Jedi feats look in line with what we see in visual SW (with the possible exception of 'stick lighsaber in ground=massive TK shockwave'-how's that supposed to work?) I'm heartily sick of SW games were you play a Jedi. How about something like the original Dark Forces again for a change?

Bah, all of you guys are too old to know how to have fun anymore. Where's your sense of adventure? Don't you ever dream of leaping through the stars with a magical glowing stick of doom, waving your hand and watching entire civilizations crumble before your awesome power?

People who frown and say "That was never in the movies" are just as annoying as people who frown and say "The book was much better." Just pretend the two aren't related. Let's call this new game "Super Awesome Bros." and add in a dinosaur sidekick. Any mentions of the terms "Force," "Jedi," or "evil galactic empire" are purely coincidental.

And of course, it's really too early to judge anything about the game itself. But I still think all of you are unfun dirty old farts.

Personally, I thought it was awesome.
