So I ended up picking up Pokemon Pearl for the DS from Gamestop on friday - seeing as I haven't played one since the original Red/Green/Yellow series back in the original Gameboy days.

I remember it being a passable RPG series with the interesting bit of picking up the monsters to battle for you. While geared towards children a bit, it was fun to encounter the new breeds teach the pokemon new moves, and to just explore the gameworld and see what's what.

So I loaded up the game, chose ChimChar (the fire monkey) as my starting type - I have a fondness for the Fire types, my favorite from the originals is still the Charmander/Charmaleon/Charizard evolution - and proceeded to play.

So far, I have nearly 35 Pokemon captured, of varying types, including a Abra and a Ghastly, Onix and a Machop.

My Main Team so far consist of - Monferno (evolved Chimchar), Psyduck, Staravia (evolved Starly - a bird type like Pidgey from the originals) Onix, Leorx (electric cat) and usually a switch between Abra and Machop.

So, who else has picked it up? How are you enjoying the game?

Also, if you got a squirtle and a bulbasaur you'd be willing to trade off......

I've got plenty of Pikachus, Charmanders, Squirtles, and Bulbasaurs to spare. If you don't have the National Pokedex yet, you probably don't have too much to offer, but it's no big deal. I'll settle for any of the following or their evolutions:

Slowpoke
Houndour
Stantler
Glameow
Dustox
Goldeen
Anything awesome

Otherwise, I'll trade them for Starlys and Bidoofs I suppose. Doesn't really matter to me.

Please note that other than the Pikachu, these guys are all level 1 since they're hatched from eggs. Also, they're all male since females are a lot rarer and you can use a Ditto anyway. You can catch one after you get the National Dex or I have a spare I could give you.

Also, on the Charmander, would you rather have Flamethrower and Fire Blast or just Iron Tail (plus Scratch and Growl of course)?
