Essentially, my touchpad no longer functions and my sound is choppy, as if my sound card is dying or the drivers have been corrupted...
ANy suggestions? I dont have a mouse right now to test if that works, but I can try to find my system restore disks if a reformat is necessary...

Get yourself a cheap mouse (you can get them at Wal*Mart for 20-30$) and try that. Then download the latest drivers for your touchpad and soundcard. That's the first place I'd start.

Could be two separate problems that are unrelated with each other at all. For the touchpad, try to go to Control Panel --=> Mouse, then go to the Touchpad tab and see if it is active. If it is inactive, try activating it. If it keeps inactive nonetheless, then your touchpad is physcally damaged and need to be replaced --and mind you, it's pretty much common with touchpads. That's why I always prefer trackpads, because they're always more durable.Comrade Tortoise wrote:Essentially, my touchpad no longer functions and my sound is choppy, as if my sound card is dying or the drivers have been corrupted...
As for the sound... Not sure. Does the choppiness happen all the time?
