I just started playing it to satisfy my MoO withdrawls, since I heard from everyone that MoO3 was semi-polished and semi-refined assjuice.

Any tips anyone can recommend? I got the Ultimate Edition, by the way, and I just started playing - I've no real idea what I'm doing just yet.

The game kicks ass, incredibly deep and pretty decent AI. I played it for weeks, amassing an empire and tinkering with my ship designs. My fleets of Centurion-class Frigates and Achilles-class Medium Destroyers are still fresh in my mind. I eventually had a star fleet of two hundred and fifty individually named ships of various classes which I used to exert my will upon my enemies.

You get out of that game what you put into it. I liked it a hell of a lot.

So far, after tinkering more and more and basically treating it like a single-player MoO2 (e.g. approaching species choices as such, as well as galaxy sizes, etc.), I'm getting the hang of it more and more. And digging it much more, since it really does seem like MoO2 except with added Awesome.

Creativity (as a species trait) has proven nicely beneficial to get Soil Enrichment and some of the heavier techs earlier on, which has proven nicely helpful; however I'm not sure what techs are "must-have" just yet, unless I'm going by their immediate effects. I chose Iconian Refuge as my species of choice, for their special abilities and bonuses (not least of which is the ability to have basic Toxic Colonies and Aquatic Colonies right from the get-go).

Dealing with other races is something I'm still getting the hang of as well.
