#1 Recent Firefox updates, and the problems with them

I recently updated to 3.6.4, because FF automatically did so thanks to me TELLING it to. No biggy. Except AFTER the upgrade any and all web access timed out, and NOT because of problems with my connection. AIM ran fine, IE ran fine, downdated FF ran fine.
So I go back to 3.6.whatever, everything's groovy. Until 3.6.6 comes around.
DESPITE me telling FF to NOT upgrade without my express approval it DOES, and guess what-SAME DAMNED PROBLEM.

I have not actually had any issues with 3.6.4 or 3.6.6

Yeah, I know, technically a necro, but I didn't want to start another thread on the exact same problem.
So I take it nobody BUT me has any problems with Firefox 3.6.7.

There's a reason I don't use Firefox, nor auto updates in general... you're just asking for trouble.
But I can't think of anything that would cause this except for maybe broken DLLs. So the only solution I can come up with is a clean install, removing the old one. I think your bookmarks and etc. are stored separately from the main firefox code, so you shouldn't lose them if you tried this.
Anyway, if the slightly older version works for you, might as well just stick with it.

3.6.0 works perfectly for me (other than the occasional crash) and going back to it was easy as pie every time I did it (i.e. 3.6.4, 3.6.7, and most recently 3.6.8).
And if the problem is broken DLLs I don't see how a downdate would work (which it invariably DOES) any more than an UPdate. Either those DLLs are overwritten or they're not.

The problem might be that they aren't overwritten - the new firefox might not be compatible with the old dll, but the old firefox is.
Could be something different though, I don't really know.

Should be a nonissue if I install to a different directory, right? Except same damn problem.

Huh. Maybe try a new user profile?

Not worth the bother. As said, 3.6.0 works okay, and going BACK to that when the updates turn out to not work takes like two minutes.

I've finally found the problem-the guys who came up with Mozilla just plain hate me. Due to circumstances explained elsewhere, I'm for the time being on a P2 350. 3.6.8 (ignoring the inevitable performance issues) works like a charm.
