SHADOWRUN LIVES!
One of the orginal developers of Shadowrun has bought back his game and wants to make a 2d turn based RPG computer game in the tradition of fallout and other greats. He has sworn to release the level editer with the game so we may in his own words "tell your own stories." The game will be released DRM free. They have also sworn solemnly that 5% of the proceeds will go to fund other kickstarters.
I didn't know I wanted this so bad.
Get moving chummers, the streets wait for no runner.
And Remember, Never Trust Mr. Johnson!

Well, this does look intriguing. I read the book Never Deal With a Dragon, and it's two sequels - but I've never actually played the game. I am interested.

I keep throwing the money at the screen but it doesn't tell me it's fully funded yet =(

And here I was hoping to be the one to spring this on Frigid to further confuse his desire to kill me. Ah well. Still, yes, this looks reasonably awesome, and I kind of want this to happen already.
P.S. -Yo, it's funded guys. Keep pouring on the cash.

This'll be the 4th or 5th RPG I've funded this week so sure why not. +$60 to shadowrun when I get home

Wow. A Shadowrun CRPG I actually might be able to play. Didn't see that coming.

I think I shall.

They hit their funding goal already, and they're a bit over now. That's pretty awesome.
That said, I haven't thrown money at them yet, and I'll feel fully justified in doing so.

I've heard lots of good things about Shadowrun, but never played it myself. This I might check out.

I never played it myself, and have a fuckton of issues with some of the rules at least as per iteration 2.0, but the universe can be a lot of fun. My only complaints about the novels are the lack of storyarcs lasting longer than three books, and the fact that they let eurocentric assholes ruin the setting (which goes for the game, too, I guess).

Slot your 'stick, make it happen, chummers.
Now me, I've ran the Shadows in the past. Rather retired now, but it's a thrill you never forget. I've stories I could tell, chummers, stories of daring risks and dumb blind luck. Stories where we pulled of the gig by the skin of our teeth, and still got shafted.
Some hints, chummers -- never make a deal with a dragon, they never have more than one backup plan to fuck you over. Never trust Mr. Johnson, he's never your friend, just the man trying to get a job done cheaply as he can. Never, EVER, go up against the Brotherhood, unless you have a shit-ton of bugspray. And never do wetwork for free.

Um-if they never have more than one backup plan that sort of means I
can get out of this alive (and possibly with the money) if I can figure out a way to beat their plans A and B. Methinks you meant 'always' there

No Bats, I mean they've never got more than one plan... they've got dozens.
We make it out with the money, but that don't mean we still get shafted somehow. The Corps don't care, long as they get that little bit over the other guy. Runners' are just another business expense to them, and we're not just expendable, it's sometimes better for the bottom line if we're dead.

One of the things that was totally cool in Dunklezahn's will was that he played an annual game of chess with Damian Knight, which tells you what Knight had on the ball.
Bats- Nigel Findley wrote the best Shadowrun fic, hands down. The Cat will probably hiss at me for saying it, but I grooved on Stackpole's Wolf and Raven anthology, too. Corny fun, albeit very dated since he started writing it when they hadn't even finished putting the first rulebook together.

These guys just are not slowing down - and for that, they have my props, as well as $60 of mine.
If they hit 1 million (and they're currently at $710k), they plan to add another city to explore, as well as a better editor. They've already added Macintosh support, German & French & Spanish languages, and Riggers.

My Lady? 'Dozens'
is more than one. Quite significantly in fact.

Sorry Tev, much as it pains me, Bats is actually right in this case. In this case, I think you swapped "just" or "only" with "more than".

I never said any of my Runners spoke proper grammarical English.

There's not using proper grammar and there's essentially saying the exact opposite of what you meant.

Interesting, I may just pay the $15 for a copy. Is there any particular order to the novels or are they mostly stand-alone?

Not sure, honestly - I admit to being tempted to cough up $100 for them, just for the hardcover for the stories.
I read the Never Deal With a Dragon trilogy, and a few others - but that trilogy sticks out most in my mind. Tev & Nitram were kind enough to sell me a crapton of books a while back, which included a bunch of Shadowrun books - so, I may just check them out again in a fresh fit of nostalgia.

Holy fuck, I forgot that.
I think you'll find that trilogy is among the books I sent you. I had all three, as well as several others like "Never Trust an Elf" and "Black Madonna".

Oh, I found the trilogy first - they were all present, which made me very happy. I'll definitely have to look into the others now.

2XS was a good one, and... fuck, I forget the title of the one with Nachtmeister, but it rocked.
Ah yes, Shadowplay I believe.
What does it take to somewhat inconvenience a dragon? Military-grade lasers mounted in a cargo plane for a start.

I'm going to try 'Never Deal With a Dragon' first before diving into the others. Finally using the credits I accumulated at PaperBackSwap.
