Next Up for the Democrats: Civil War

The civil war's been here since 2004, though it's not about race or sexism. Frankly, those ascribing all this to those two factors are not casting themselves in a good light if that's all they see.

Clinton and Obama personify the two warring branches of the Dems: The entrenched elite, the ones who earn the name Defeatocrats, the capitulating whiners whose spokesman has actually said they must not dare ask voters to see a difference between the GOP and Democratic party, against Dean's insurgents, the grass-roots, the push to create a lasting, fifty-state party, not one of entrenched positions and kingmakers.

Even their present positions in the run-up for President show this. Obama leads in delegates from voting, while Clinton is reaching out to the party machine to gather superdelegates(Full disclosure: Hillary and Bill are both Superdels, as is Obama).

Their messages? There too. Clinton runs on Experience.. But this experience isn't any more than Obama's in elected positions. The only experience she has that he doesn't is that she was part of the DC Machine, the cocktail circuit that exists to calcify the 'Conventional Wisdom' into unquestionable Truth. Obama embraces Liberalism in it's undiluted form: The dictionary defines it as equality, progress, and suchlike, which are, well, Hope. Hope for a better tomorrow.

But don't confuse the civil war for a pie-slinging contest or an unseemly brawl. For better or worse, both sides are going to the people and letting the cards fall as they may. What's shocking is that the democratic electorate is happy about all this. For all the desperate spin-doctoring by the media, the electorate is psyched and happy. Turnout is a blowout consistantly in the Dem Primaries and Caucuses. And lots of participation is inherently healthy for Democracy.

I honestly bear little love for the Democratic party however, I hope this writer is wrong, as the a civil war within that party would at this moment be a disaster for this nation.

There's no doubt in my mind the Clintons are ruthless enough to spark a civil war, but I don't think it will happen. They're already looking weak and defeated and the politicos (who are those all important and variable super delegates) can already smell the fear. Such a move would reek of defeat and they would jump ship.

From what I can tell with my worm eyes view, most people have not voted because they honestly felt their vote meant two things... Jack and Shit and Jack wasn't in town that year if you catch my drift. Right now, they actually feel their vote actually means something and that is sparking some fire.

Actually, Hillary has had it so ingrained that she DESERVES to be in the White House, and it is her god given and birthright for being First Lady, I can see her trying to push it to a point of near civil war betweent he two branches of the Democratic party.

I'm more for the hope that it doesn't happen, and Obama wins or loses fair and square, not on Clinton's dirty tricks.
