As the situation in Ukraine goes from unstable to about to completely fly off the rails, Japanese Interent users couldn’t help noticing something about the new attorney general appointed in Crimea. While the 33-year-old Natalia Poklonskaya is, without a doubt, holding one of the most difficult jobs in the world right now, netizens in Japan quickly took to the forums to praise for being…so beautiful?

Check out the powerful woman whose captured 2Channel users’ hearts, and some of their comments, below!

As the world focuses on the vote to decide the fate of Crimea this weekend, some Japanese netizens seem to only have eyes for Natalia, whose press conference has drawn over 140,000 views since being reposted to a Japanese YouTube Channel on March 13. The video, which you can check out below, features the young woman answering questions and “blinking rapidly”.

While Japanese netizens may be taken with the blonde, not everyone seems to like her. One Turkish site, who joined many other sites in reposting pictures of Natalia taken from one of her social networking profiles, has suggested a “complicity in actions aimed at the seizure of state power.” It is important to note, though, that Turkey and Russia have strained relations, so you may want to take their comments with a grain of salt. On the other hand, AOL News Japan has pointed out that Natalia, though young, has had an impressive career to date, taking up cases against violent criminals and environmental problems. So, we’d do well to remember that she’s not just a pretty face! And, whether you think her appointment was a brilliant move or an attempt to help Russia take over the region, there’s no denying that she has a difficult task ahead of her.

Sure, there are slightly more pressing matters at hand in Crimea, but here are the photos that are driving Japanese netizens crazy. It’s not hard to see why so many seem to have fallen head-over-heels for the young woman!

So, what exactly were Japanese netizens saying about Crimea’s new attorney general?

She’s just my type!

Ukraine has such a high percentage of devastatingly beautiful women. This is a battle I cannot avoid. Be right back; going to Crimea. [Umm, you might want to rethink that...]

Please cross examine me harshly!

I don’t really know what’s going on, but I back her! Because she’s gorgeous!

She just looks like a child doing cosplay to me.

She’s gifted with both brains and beauty.

Wouldn’t an attorney general be a target for assassination? Scary…

She’s definitely pretty, but I’m more surprised at how young she is!

Summon me for questioning! I’ll tell you everything I know! I’ll even tell you everything I don’t know!

I want her to grab me by the lapels and slap me twice. And when I fall down, I want her to bury her foot into my gut.

Please step on me.

Well, that got weird fast…

While we certainly hope that Natalia’s job doesn’t get too exciting, that might not be very likely considering the current situation. Instead, we’ll just cross our fingers that the situation will resolve itself in a peaceful and pleasant manner that leaves everyone happy. And maybe, while we’re dreaming, we could get a ride on a pegasus too?
Well... This has gotten real weird, real fast...

Japan's in the story, so that's pretty much a given. She'll have her own manga in no time.

She is rather easy on the eyes.

I've already seen a pic of her on Facebook, manga-style. She is very lovely in the photo they posted to compare.
