Hussein Says He'd Like To Talk To Bush
21 June 2005 (RFE/RL) - American soldiers guarding Saddam Hussein say the deposed Iraqi leader told them he would like to talk to U.S. President George W. Bush "to make peace with him."
The soldiers told an American publication, GQ magazine, that Saddam said Bush and his father, former President George H. W. Bush, are "no good."
Still, Saddam was quoted as saying that he wants to talk to Bush. As he put it, "He knows I have nothing, no mass weapons. He knows he'll never find them."
The guards also say Saddam thinks fondly of the late U.S. President Ronald Reagan.
The jailed former Iraqi leader described how Reagan, who was president during the time of Iraq's 1980-88 war with Iran, sold him planes and helicopters.
One of the guards, Jonathan Reese, speaking on American television, said talking to Saddam in his jail cell was surreal.
"It was weird, you know, because here you are talking to a guy who seems so nice, you know, but in the back of your mind you're thinking this is a guy who has killed so many people and you know he's a bad person," Reese said.
Saddam is awaiting trial on charges of killing Iraqis and waging war against Kuwait.
Methinks Saddam would be the only one with any thing inteligent to say in that convo.

Methinks you should think again. I'm not fond of Jr. either, but this is Saddam, who's proven he lives in something of a fairy world.

That happens when bad things happen to people who don't tell you want to here. With Bush they lose their jobs or have their spouses outed, with Saddam its the chopping block.

I'm willing to give Saddam a little slack. Maybe prisions been good for him, he may have come to the realization that he actually fucked up rather large and he might have some deep and philisophical things to say.
Who am I kidding, he'll probably try and strangle Bush with his own tie.

Saddam may habe been a ruthless bastard but given the fact that he was an effective ruthless bastard inclines me to believe while he may be a megalomaniac he isn't entirely stupid. I'm not quite sure I'm willing to say the same for Dubya.

One does not need to be intelligent to be an effective dictatior. One only needs to be fast to kill.

And be able to play potential successors against one another so they're too busy fighting one another as opposed to you, avoid being assasinated, know where the populace's 'OK that's it. We have nothing to lose anyway' point is so you don't cross it...
Saddam may be no genius but he's not dumb. Again, I don't think I know if I'm willing to say the same for Dubya.

Really? Then maybe you should consider the fact that he got reelected despite all the mistakes and idioticy of the first 4 years. Most people would have gone down in flames.

Which says a lot about the intelligence of the
voters. Not about Dubyas.

And your counter evidence is? There was
no believable evidence of Saddam having anything to do with 9/11, there was
no believable evidence that Saddam still had WMDs, the US had for a decade if not more
supported Saddam yet people fell for the'Let's remove the evil dictator' line, the 'We're fighting Terrorism ' one, and the'he's got WMD so he's EVIL' one.

He sold a lie that worked. Do you have evidence that he believed it?

I don't need any. It was painfully obvious that it was a lie, yet his electorate believed it.

Alright, Now I'm fed up. No wonder we can't shit.
Look you idiots. I think he may have a brain cell or two in that large chimp like skull, maybe blaming everyone else makes people feel good, but in the end, We Failed. It was our responibilty to defeat him, not the American's Public. We Failed to use the plentiful ammo against him, We Failed to beat his Congressmen, We Failed pierced his veil. Screaming that it's not our fault and everyone else is an idiot only assures futher defeats in the future. I refuse to play that way, I play to win.
You can play "He's not Bush, therefore smarter," But I'll chose to live in reality. In reality the fact is just because you hate someone's guts doesn't automaically make then retarded.

Well, you're not part of the 'We' he's referring to, Bats, given your area of residence. But what FM's saying is that the Democrats and their supporters have taken to blaming the stupidity of the public over their own failures in terms of strategy and position on issues.
Now, everyone can get a last statement in before I drop the lock here, because at present it's going nowhere.
