[quote]
Sorry, mother's milk belongs under wraps
By JONNA SPILBOR

If I could be a cop for just one day, I wouldn't arrest people for minor infractions like rolling through traffic lights at desolate, late-night intersections. Instead, I would drive around in a paddy wagon, filling it up with people who engage in activities that are perfectly legal, but so utterly annoying they ought to be outlawed.

For example, there ought to be a law against making noise while chewing soft foods, holding up a grocery line because you forgot the milk and reclining your seat on trains and planes, unless the person directly behind you is either (1) a stuffed animal or (2) completely invisible.

Yet, it's simply a fact of life that humans will engage in a long list of legal yet torturous behavior, leaving the rest of us little choice but to scowl and bear it.

I'm here to say unequivocally, wholeheartedly, and with every ounce of maternal instinct washing over my being like a prickly rash Ââ€â€

Go for it. Chances are she's one of those elderly spinsters who never found a man with which to concieve a child so she too could share in this activity. Either that or she's probably one of the die hard puritan conservatives that any hint of sexuality beyond a bathingsuit that ends at the knees and begins at the neck offends. Or maybe she just doesn't have a decent pair and was denied the right and ability to feed her spawn.

What I found amusing was while I was reading through that I stumbled across one comment that if you replace three words, two of which are tied together, it sheds a certain light on the subject.
Just because you give a boob a job doesn't magically change society's long-ingrained attitudes about public nudity.
Now change the word boob to something else that's always a cause for media rioting, such as say the word African-American, or Homosexual, or Hispanic, or something of the sort. Now change the words(the ones that were tied together)public nudity to something having to do with the subject of the first one.

For example: Just because you give a homosexual a job doesn't magically change society's long-ingrained attitudes about gays.

or

Just because you give an African-American a job doesn't magically change society's long-ingrained attitudes about African-Americans.

Funny how just a few words removes the comment from what would be otherwise identified as near-bigot-esque to "safe" and "okay." But she used the words 'boob' and 'public nudity' instead. I realize this is an editorial piece but still. That's cutting it pretty thing between safe and something else. But maybe I'm just reading too much into it and thinking the wrong things...

That's okay, boobs have long been known to cause men's thought processes to go completely off-track.

That's why they must be hidden and repressed.

Yo, Ms Spilbor? Kindly have your head examined. In fact, kindly have it removed, as my contract with DC says I can't remove it myself.
You will no doubt find this hard to believe but society does not have a duty to protect you from seeing things you don't want to see. If it did, there would be no horrible TV commercials, reality shows, or neon-colored sports cars (leave alone fat people in tights).
You are absolutely allowed to feel uncomfortable at the sight of mothers breast-feeding theirt kids. I happen to think that makes you an intolerant prick, but being one is your right, too. There's a perfectly simple solution to your problem.
Don't look.
