I posted the same news about the idiot fundie who wanted to ban Harry Potter from school, then a conservative named UDawg made a lame argument about how the Christian groups have been treated unfairly by the media, and how Atheists' stupidity has never been reported.

Here's his lame apologist whining:
UDawg, the apologist wrote:No, when ever a christian group does this, atheists go nuts. I am not saying good christians don't do dumb things, only that anything a christian group does will be blown way out of perportion. When atheist groups do something dumb it isn't reported.

And here's my sarcastic reply:
KAN wrote:Completely agree. Atheist groups do a lot of unreported dumb things, like trying to ban gay marriage, or terrorizing an adult store, or making up a stupid pseudoscience called "Creationism", or...

Wait, I think I'm confusing the groups here. Duh.

He returned with various nitpicks on my point:
UDawg the apologist wrote:Where does it say in that link that christians did that to the sex shop?

Gay marriage isn't legal so how can you ban something that already isn't legal? Secondly homosexuals want to change the definition of marriage and they are the ones pushing this issue not the religious groups.

Creationism isn't science. It is a belief in the bible on how life originated. Intelligent design is what you should be talking about but it only questions the findings of evolution.

If you are going to be sarcastic and funny, at least know what you are talking about.

Well I smacked down all his lame nitpicks, and went to the main point:
KAN wrote:Alright, enough red herring. You don't impress me much, UDawg. The point is that you have made a really lame argument. You claimed that when Christian groups do something stupid, it will be blown way out of "preportion", but when atheist groups do something stupid it isn't reported.

Too bad your argument doesn't hold water, since you failed to provide evidences, examples, or back up your argument whatsoever. For starter, what stupidity have been made by the atheist group? Examples? Evidences? Nah. That shows that you are less than mediocre debater at best.

Then it comes to my second suspicion, that you did not actually argue at all. All you did is nothing but whining. A Christian stupidity made its way to the media, and you whined about it. Sorry, but you fail to impress anyone a ****.

Well, he hasn't replied so far. But what I really don't understand is that this guy is NOT even a fundie. All I know that he's a hardline conservative and a staunch Republican, and hates liberals so much. As far as I know, he never contributed in bible-thumping arguments like persuading someone that God really exists, etc.

As a note, nvNews is actually a web board about nVidia video cards... But the Politics and Religion Forum has been dominated by Republicans, and they tend to bully anyone who disagrees with them (doesn't work on me, though). But what I don't understand: why are they so eager to defend the fundies in any way? When I posted a news about religious stupidity, they became so eager to defend it by any means necessary, including resorting to apologist tactic.

Here's another story: Adam and I were there some months ago, being involved in an Evolution vs Creationism debate. And what actually amazed me is not their debating skills, but their eagerness to attack Evolution by any means. Some of those conservatives even seemed to be more interested to make ad hominem attack on Adam instead of actually defending Creationism!

This is what I fail to understand: why they took it so personally? Why are they so militant about it? Anything that smells like 'liberal' (including atheism, Evolution, and gay marriage) should be attacked at all cost, no matter what. I mean, what the fuck?

You're not really dealing with a conservative here, but a Religious Righter. They are, simply put, Fucking Insane, like most every party that fuses the premise of religion and the premise of patriotism to their own greed.

These folks don't give a shit that their methods and beleifs violate Scripture and the Soul of the Republican Party. Logic, sense, and reason are alien. They are out for themselves, and will cling to anything that supports their views.

You can't, really, deal with them, the same way you can't get peice with a Jihadist Sunni. You can, at best, tackle the sources that create such.

I see. Thanks! Damn, they're quite deceiving, then. Out of many people there, only one or two who are recognizable as fundies. :???: The rest of them are very open about their Republican stance, but not their fundie-ness.

The debate between me and the apologist is still ongoing, by the way. And it's really, really feels like this :thewall: ARRRGHH!!!

They're easy to spot when you realize the core aspects of it. Intelligent Design being 'different' from Creationism or even useful. Gays being out to redefine Marriage(As anyone who knows history knows, homosexual relationships are ancient.).
