Yahoo wrote:PARIS (Reuters) - Parisian sunbathers will no longer be allowed to go nude or wear g-strings on the capital's artificial beaches and risk a fine if they are caught baring their breasts or buttocks.
City hall has issued a decree banning indecent clothing to preserve the tranquillity of the sandy beaches created on the banks of the River Seine every summer since 2001.
"People must behave according to good standards to maintain tranquillity, security and public order," the decree said, according to Saturday's edition of Le Parisien. "Notably indecent attire (nude sunbathing, g-strings and toplessness etc) is forbidden."
The city police will be enforcing the rules, and anyone caught baring too much flesh risks a 38 euro (26 pounds) fine.
Defending the decree, city hall sports official Pascal Cherki told Le Parisien that indecent clothing "could have led to temptations and dangerous behaviour on the banks of the river."
Topless sunbathing and g-strings are common on real beaches around France in the summer.
That's right, the French are banning nudity.

You can still go to the Lido.

Just not to the artificial beaches in Paris. The beaches on the sea aren't controlled by this, unless their bureaucracy is just that bad.
Of course, considering how hot it is there (and everywhere else, for that matter) this summer, you'd probably be better off going to the Lido as Ace suggested.

Dang, I wouldn't have even thought of the possible connection had you not mentioned it, Frigid. Now I'm getting paranoid too.
So guys, would any of you be opposed to a "Flash for Freedom" movement?

How strong are the moslem immigrants in France? Sufficient political lobby and influence to make such thing happen?

I believe they're France's strongest minority, who all happen to live in ghettos.

So the, uh, France's strongest minority who, by the way, all lives in ghettos, has actually sufficient political power to drive the Paris City Council to ban nudity? Are those immigrants really the one behind the ban?

I would've guessed no, since they're not citizens and by all appearances, never will be.

Well, there is being behind the ban and being behind the ban.
This miniority, while having no legitimate legal clout, has plenty in the form of violence and threats of violence.

Since we're talking a specific case of nudity being banned in France....
So is that true, that the reason behind the banning of nudity in France is because the Paris City Council is being pressured by the moslem immigrants through the means of violence/threat of violence? Do we have facts or evidences on this?

What we're doing KAN is wondering. We do a pattern of a minority who has used violence to impose censorship (would you like to drag back the stories I've posted here?) on others in the surrounding area. The same minority who rioted in every major city in that nation and where some of it's supposed leaders have made threats and well... French politcos seem to be an surrending mood, they caved quickly enough on the economic didn't they?
I wondered this out loud because in order to prove it I would have to read mind. It's not an accusation or even an iron clad belief, but I can't think of any other group in France off hand who would want this or that many groups who would be happy with this. If you can share.
