Fred Phelps and his loony followers are old news. They've switched to being assholes at soldiers' funerals because not enough people made a fuss when they were picketing the funerals of gay people.

Out of curiousity, how did that chant come about? Does it mean anything other than "Woo I'm a Marine and I'm about to beat the ever living hell out of whatever is in my path."?

Honestly? No one is sure, we know it predates World War I and didn't exist (we think) during the war of 1812. There are a number of colorful myths and legends ranging to indains to arabs as to where it comes from.

The Westboro clan is no longer recognized by the Southern Baptist Fellowship. Of course, this didn't happen until Phelps and his clan started picketing soldiers graves. When it was just gays, they were ignored.

Phelps hates everyone and everything. I wouldn't be surprised if he even hates himself, and that's why he takes it out on his kids. And as Cynical Cat pointed out, it's very old news.
