In approximately three hours from the time of this posting, President Bush is going to address the country regarding General Petraeus' recent testimony to Congress and future plans for the war in Iraq. I'm creating this thread for discussion of the address as it happens.

If you for some reason can't get a television or radio station that's carrying the address, my local NPR station is, and has live streaming audio of their broadcast. The audio link is here.

He will announce troops being brought home that have to come home anyway, and were scheduled to do such when the Surge's plans were finalized.

And the media and Republicans will hail it as a great compromise.

For what it's worth, NPR has been pointing out that the surge is due to end anyway all through the hourly newscasts this afternoon.

NPR also got Petraeus to admit the 30,000 he claimed isn't going to be 30,000. But you get what I mean.

Well, as expected he's talking about Anbar province. Couldn't help but notice that he mentioned that the terrorists seek to attack us at home in the introduction, though.
