Clinton: Obama's 'bitter' remarks 'demeaning'

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (CNN) — Hillary Clinton sought on Saturday to fan the flames surrounding Barack Obama's controversial assertion that voters in some small towns are "bitter."

Clinton told an audience of automotive workers here that she was "taken aback by the demeaning remarks Sen. Obama made about people in small town America."

"Sen. Obama's remarks are elitist and out of touch," she said. "they are not reflective of the values and beliefs of Americans, certainly not the Americans I know, not the Americans I grew up with, not the Americans I lived with in Arkansas or represent in New York."

Clinton aides said they planned to make Obama's comments central to their message on the campaign trail this weekend. The New York senator will campaign across Indiana Saturday, and will return to Pennsylvania on Sunday.

In a soft-spoken denunciation of her Democratic rival that lasted several minutes, Clinton played up her own faith and Midwestern roots before attacking point by point Obama's claims that people who feel disenfranchised in small town America "cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

"Americans who believe in God believe it's a matter of personal faith," she said, to periodic applause. "People of faith I know don't cling to religion because they are bitter. People embrace faith not because they are materially poor but because they are spiritually rich."

On the issue of guns, Clinton said: "People of all walks of life hunt, and they enjoy doing do because its an important part of their life, not because they are bitter."

"I don't think it helps to divide our country into one America that is enlightened and one that is not," Clinton continued, finishing her remarks with a line she introduced on Friday in Philadelphia after the story broke: "People don't need a president who looks down on them. They need a president who stands up for them, and that's exactly what I will do."
What happens when you speak the truth, the pundits who will do anything to get elected jump on your back. Obama is apparently the only candidate willing to say "Listen, this sucks, I know that you know it sucks, and I want to at least try to help." while the other two are sticking their fingers in their ears and going "Nope, everything is fine, we're rough and rowdy Americans, nothing can bring us down! Hail the USA!"
"Sen. Obama's remarks are elitist and out of touch," she said. "they are not reflective of the values and beliefs of Americans, certainly not the Americans I know, not the Americans I grew up with, not the Americans I lived with in Arkansas or represent in New York."
Fuck you, you stupid bitch. Maybe if you spent some time in the rest of the fucking state instead of the nice happy little town where 95% of the state funds are funneled into while the rest of our big fucking state dies painfully and is quickly emptying due to poor education, taxes that would make most states shudder, and collapsing cities you would realize that New York isn't so damn peachy.

I also find it fucking hilarious that she spent all of Saturday going on about how her dad taught her how to use a gun and how she goes to church but as soon as someone asks "When was the last time you did either of those things?" She says "It's not relevant."

I used to be ambivalent towards Hillary, all of the "Hildebeast" and other inflamatory remarks made me a bit uneasy. Now though? I hate her, and you can sure as hell bet the next time her seat in Congress comes up for re-election I'm going to be voting against her.

The truly pathetic thing is that this flailing attack is getting more airtime than the fact the President admitted on national TV that he signed off on torture. Not just in a general sense, but in 'Okay guys, choreograph the individual sessions for these detainees' signed off.

Enraging as her comments were, they smack of the same desperation we continue to see. Did anyone else notice how Obama's numbers in Pennsylvania went UP after that comment, despite all the spin doctoring and whatnot?

I mean, seriously, it's not like any of us expected Hillary to come out and say: "You know what, Obama's right, I really AM full of shit nowadays." Obviously she had to spin it in her own direction. The issue with Hillary is that her spin is so blatantly self-serving, contradictory, and downright crude.

Her defeat will be among the most satisfying losses in the history of modern politics.
