You could if this story was about a taser.
But seriously - we've all though about doing terrible things at some point, and maybe even half-heartedly tried doing them. But going all the way through with it is another thing, especially over something like this.

And that was sort of my point. There's been countless incidents like this, over things just as trivial, all throughout history.
That doesn't make this incident any less terrible of course but I'd be lying if I said I haven't seen something like that (and worse) before.
