At a rally a few miles from the West Virginia border on Tuesday, Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden predicted he and Sen. Barack Obama would win West Virginia in the Nov. 4 presidential election.

According to NBC's Mike Memoli, Biden asked the crowd in St. Clairsville, Ohio, "Which way is West-By-God-Virginia?" He then said, "I want to send a message to West Virginia -- we're going to win in West Virginia! ... We're going to shock the living devil out of y'all!"

St. Clairsville is a few miles west of Wheeling. Republican vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska was also there on Sunday, after flying into Huntington earlier that day and traveling along the Ohio side of the Ohio River all day.

West Virginia, once thought to be a solid state for Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, is now considered a toss-up state by several national political analysts. The only poll conducted so far this month, by American Research Group, showed Obama leading McCain by eight percentage points. Several polls conducted in September showed McCain with a lead of several points.
The gauntlet, she is thrown. And with Palin the Separatist having ditched us, it might just work.

Hey, I see this as something definitely worth doing. The McCain campaign has abandoned WV, and Obama's people are running the table in every swing state and even marginally-swing state worth mentioning. Winning West Virginia would be driving the dagger through the McCain campaign's heart.

Now, just get one of the two to step FOOT in WV, and they might get some of the fence-sitters.

I've been reading speculation that Biden's laying the ground for a visit by him or Obama in the near future. That makes sense to me. It's a battle ground state and whipping up some attention and excitement before making their arrival makes sense.
