Mayabird:You see what this place does to us? It's like how Eskimos have their 16 names for snow. We have to precisely define what shafting we're receiving.

"Do we think Israel would be nuts enough to go back into Lebanon with Olmert still in power and calling the shots? They could hook Sharon up to a heart monitor and interpret the blips and bleeps as "yes" and "no" and do better than that, both strategically and emotionally."

Haaretz
A previously unknown Palestinian group calling itself the "Al-Quds Army" claimed that it had kidnapped an Israeli soldier on Thursday, the Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported.

"A group of our resistance fighters captured an Israeli soldier near Ben Gurion airport and withdrew along with the soldier peacefully - later we will give details about the captured soldier," Ma'an quoted a statement issued by the group.

"The matter is being investigated," a military spokeswoman said when asked about the reports.

The IDF Spokespersons' Unit issued a statement explaining that a woman soldier had filed a report Thursday afternoon, saying that she had seen two civilians forcibly pushing a soldier into a vehicle. In light of this testimony, the IDF and the Shin Bet security service are trying to determine whether these reports are true.

Meanwhile, police set up roadblocks across central Israel causing severe traffic congestion in several areas.

Police blocked many main arteries asking all drivers to slow down and submit to a security check. The numerous checks caused severe delays.

Fej Shmuelevitch, an operator of a mobile phone application for information on traffic delays, told Haaretz that unusual congestion was recorded near Ben Gurion National Airport, on Route 4, and on the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway as well as areas in Petah Tikva.

Army Radio reported delays on Route 40 between Ramat Hakovesh and Ra'anana.

And false alarm
kidnapped

Report filed by woman soldier saying two people forced soldier into vehicle near Ben Gurion Airport proves false, as army says all troops accounted for. Security establishment instructs forces to resume routine activity

Eli Senyor Latest Update: 08.14.09, 00:35 / Israel News

A report received at around noon Thursday claiming that two civilians forced an IDF soldier into a car at an intersection near an Israeli Air Force base adjacent to Ben Gurion International Airport was proven false, as the army said it had no indication that any of its troops had been abducted and that all of them were accounted for.

The security establishment instructed forces to resume their routine activity.

In response to the report, filed by a woman soldier, security forces set up dozens of roadblocks in the greater Tel Aviv area, Petah Tikva and Highway 443. Two helicopters were scrambled as part of the clampdown.

The Israeli dragnet, which began in the early afternoon and lasted into the evening, froze traffic around Ben-Gurion Airport on the highway between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

The Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported that a previously unknown organization called "Al-Quds Army" claimed responsibility for abducting an Israeli soldier.

The organization's statement read, "Our resistance fighters captured an Israeli soldier near Ben Gurion airport and withdrew along with the soldier peacefully - later we will give details about the captured soldier.

"We vow before all the martyrs that we will remain loyal to their blood," said the statement, which was sent to Ma'an via email.
Could be some miliumnik or something, but I doubt that happened. Lucky save for this week.
