That's 1 success at difficulty 10, 2 at diff 9, 3 at 7, 5 at 6. Have at it.

It doesn't work like that, Havoc. It just means that if something is normally a Diff 8, you can do it with a 6.General Havoc wrote:That's 1 success at difficulty 10, 2 at diff 9, 3 at 7, 5 at 6. Have at it.
The 1 cancels an 8. That leaves 8 7 5 4 4General Havoc rolled 9d10:
8, 2, 1, 4, 7, 4, 8, 2, 5
Now, here's the problem: You did TWO Separate Computer Searches (Chemical Spill and Doc's Info) but only rolled for one. While there is a option to Split your dice pool for separate actions, you didn't declare it.
So, since there's been more news about the Chemical Spill than about the Good Doctor recently, you get information overload on the Chemical Spill, starting in January when it happened, and updating nearly constantly until current game time: mid-April. Since this is the Interwebs, you get not just the True News, but the Conspiracy Theorists as well.
Gallions of toxic chemicals into drinking water, and a rash of illness and paranoia about drinking the water set in. Cleanup balked by the corp owning the site. Crackpot Theories claim maleviolent actions, even in the "pure water" brought in by outside corps tainted somehow. One of the "crackpot" sites you recognize -- actually an Interrupts site, using the cover of Conspiracy Theorists to get word out.
tl:dr -- Water Spill bad, certainly Wyrm.
As for the Doctor, Cockroach was too busy to get to him. All you get is the basic College Staff Info. Been on the Faculty for couple decades in the Science Dept (Chemistry), PhD Chemistry & Mathematics, lives in Kenova WV, no family.

Forgive me, but doesn't that amount to the same thing? Saying I got 1 success at difficulty 10, or saying that all difficulty 10 actions become difficulty 8 at which I get 1 success certainly seems that way to me...LadyTevar wrote:It doesn't work like that, Havoc. Sophie might get distracted by some of the information Cochroach found:
Other sources found that the companies Freedom Industries had merged with in 2013 were ran by the same members of the current board of directors for Lexycon LLC. In fact the executives for Freedom Industries, Etowah River Terminal, Poca Blending, Crete Technologies, and Lexycon LLC is made up of the same five members, switching jobs as the company name changes.Freedom Industries was founded in 1992 by Gary Southern, and Carl L. Kennedy II. On December 31, 2013, Freedom Industries merged with three other companies, Etowah River Terminal, Poca Blending, and Crete Technologies. Southern remained as president of the newly formed company, until the company filed for bankruptcy eight days after the spill. On January 17, 2014, Freedom Industries filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, requiring a court–appointed trustee to run the company.
However, according to the Charleston Gazette, a company "whose characteristics are strikingly similar to Freedom Industries," Lexycon LLC, registered as a business with the West Virginia secretary of state about two months after Freedom Industries filed for bankruptcy. The company is registered at the same addresses and phone numbers as the former Freedom Industries, and is founded by a former Freedom executive.

Not. Our. Turn. Havoc's in the middle of owning the disrespectful monkeys. Alexander's not doing a god damn thing until Sophie's finished.

There you go. And since I'm assuming I need another computer roll for this bevy of intel-seeking I just initiated, I provide the following:
General Havoc rolled 9d10 and got a total of 44:
7, 2, 1, 1, 3, 4, 6, 10, 10
7, 2, 1, 1, 3, 4, 6, 10, 10

I'm not sure how it works in Werewolf, but the 10s should either explode or count double thanks to the "Hacking" specialty on Computer. If they explode, I'll roll them afresh below, and if not, ignore the roll. The 1s cancel two of the successes off the 10s of course, but bear in mind the difficulty reduction from the merit when adjudicating successes and failures.
General Havoc rolled 2d10 and got a total of 17:
8, 9
8, 9

ONCE AGAIN, Havoc... DO NOT POST UNTIL I"VE SEEN YOUR ROLLS
Becuase the 10s do nothing. The 1's cancel them.
Now go delete those posts because you do not have the successes to do any of that shit.

I believe exploding dice are the realm of older versions of cWoD and nWod, in 20th Anniversary Edition using a speciality gives you 10-double not 10-again. I also believe that a 1 cancels out a success not a die. This means that at Difficulty 6 with a Hacking speciality Sophie got 6 successes, minus two from the 1s is four successes, three if it was Diff 7 instead, one if it was Diff 8. Note that Sophie has a merit that reduces her Difficulty by 2, so I find Diff 6 likely in this instance. In short, it looks like Havoc scored a home run with this one.

Lys, Thank you for Reminding me of that. I forget that it was a vicious HouseRule that had the 10s cut first.
So, Havoc has 5 Successes, after the 1s remove the rest. That is a good roll, but that is NOT going to get all the things that he listed in Sophie's post. All of what he's wanting would take at least 7-8 Successes. He doesn't have that
So, Havoc, Delete the Post. You can have all the information that Josh listed in his post, plus the names of every worker at the plant, and the owners back to when it was built in the 1930s. You also have the names/addresses of the owners and their lawyers.
But PLEASE DO NOT POST WITHOUT MY SAY-SO AGAIN

#190 Re: WEREWOLF: When will you Rage
My intention with that post, as it is for most posts, was precisely to post intention, not action. This was what Sophie was trying to do, with the expectation (on my part if not hers) that some or all of it would fail. I intended for the post to be taken more or less in the spirit of "This is what she's trying to do, given many successes". Obviously I didn't make that particularly clear, but given everyone outright demanding that I make a post, despite me being the last one to do so, I wanted to post something more substantial than "Sophie typed on a tablet". My embellishments probably made it sound like I had auto-succeeded at those things. My apologies.
I'll figure out something to do in consequence, but if Sophie failed at this, it was to try again later. Expect further attempts along the same lines.

okay, Josh, I've given you want you needed, without having to go out and look. The wonders of a good roll and Satellite feeds. Take it and run with it, but try to listen to what Michael (Martin's NPC) has to say. LOL

Layout is one thing, Paul will still want to at least get some kind of sniff on the actual security presence. He also has an ulterior motive in wanting to sneak around with Samir.

Ok, it's been over a month since I last posted. It's been longer since anyone but Havoc has posted in the thread. So, do I just give up and declare it dead? Becuase I'm sick of trying to run games that everyone gives up playing after a couple weeks.
Or, maybe I'm just not a good enough GM to run a fuckin' game that keeps interest.

Honestly Tev, I don't think it's caused by you, or how you run games. We still talk about the previous chapter of the Werewolf game, after all, and have rather fond memories of it.LadyTevar wrote:Ok, it's been over a month since I last posted. (Especially when Sees-Faces went to a restaurant for the first time. That rarely fails to get the other players snickering, even if it is at my expense.)
I can't speak for the others here of course, but I'm interested in continuing.
