She's got a bizzillion points in Spot, Listen, dark vision, blindsight, etcetera and they're nearby and everyone saw where they went. I think Torma can find them easily.

Ben: Get to casting that spell. But before you do, make sure you get some of the pit fiend's blood as well, along with some of the Abbot's possessions and a likeness of him if there's one in the Abbey.

What, you think I sheathed it while bloodstained? I mean, magic keeps it from corroding, but that's still disgusting...

And an article of clothing or something, too. His quarters will certainly have that, and maybe a likeness.

This is why I have mine as a .txt on my HD.

And make sure the one on the OOC page matches the .txt

Can I make a spellcraft check to see which spells were used as scrying wards ?

I dont think a mind blank spell WOULDNT have been used.

You can take 10 and know the scrying barrier is impermiable to anything less than divine action and even that might not work.

Funny how I don't remember doing that. It probably means discern location is out, but if it's just an epic-level scrying ward, then the spell still might work. After all, the spell does require that either the Abbot have a mind blank spell in effect (which his captors aren't likely to put on him, since they probably want to be able to probe his mind, and he'd get a save anyway) or that a deity personally intervene to stop it in order to fail. If we're up against a god, we're screwed anyway.

I can hazzard the guess that a discern location spell will not function. I am pretty sure an epic level scrying ward will function against it.

It would if discern location were of the (Scrying) subschool. It isn't.

ZOMG. The DM going Ominus Dominus, you don't get to speak some words and solve the puzzle?

Come on folks. Stop bitching about the spells not giving it away and let's make a plan.

That's the trouble; the fiend could be literally anywhere. We're certainly not going to be told whether the spell will work before it's tried, so let's try it, and in the meantime Gaheris will put the word out to look for these cultists.

Alright. Discern location will not give me anything I can teleport to. At all. I do not have it prepared today, and the spell is going to be very expensive to purchase. More than any of us have, I wager.

So, we do what we can today to find him manually. Astinius will prepare the spell in the morning, and try it. If it fails (which it probably will), we will continue the manual search.

It wont matter either way, because, as has already been said, they could have gone ANYWHERE, including other planes of existence, I dont have anything prepared which will allow me to do that either. Either way, we have to wait a few days min before we can do ANYTHING to help him.
