Good news, bad news. Good news: I got a job! Bad news: I have to work Monday night!

It's a temporary job at a Senatorial election campaign, I'll be canvassing and answering phones and what not but it's long hours (2:30 to 10:30), but pays decent. The main job is getting people to agree to vote at all. So I'll be gone for 2 weeks minimum, til the election maximum.

Damn it Frigid, now is not the time go get the shakes!

Havoc, I'm docking your pay for this.

Seriously though, you'll be missed, but we'll see you when we see you.

So some of you may have heard about hurricane Sandy approaching the east coast. At present the NYC government and many of my NJ neighbors are running around like headless chickens trying to prepare for it. Due to the projected timing of landfall, there are any number of factors that could make me late or absent for Monday night's game. Various forms of public transit may crap out or someone might decide I can do something useful and pay me oodles of overtime money (suuuuuuure, Steve). Whatever else happens, it's pretty much a guarantee that home will lose power. I'll make it if I can, but don't count on it.

Well that's the game folks. I don't think it surprises anyone. Have a good evening.

I have generator power. Shit hit the fan all over the immediate area at once according to the chatter on the police scanner. Surprisingly little rainfall until now, hopefully flooding won't be too much of an issue. Still, some pretty strong wind gusts continue to break things. Gonna be a long time getting grid power back.
