Again, I'm not referring to my trade show from STGOD4, I'm referring to one from a previous STGOD. I'm not hallucinating, this actually happened. I remember it clearly because I thought it was ultimately wankish and when I set out to do my trade show, I intended to stomp such things.
I'm ready to try again, and I still have the plan of the Enclave showing up to retake Terra and/or all human populations in the area. Nothing like an encroaching power to jolt people out of WW2 blase'.
Fair enough.

Edit: What I was referring to was the trade expo of STGOD1, it would seem. Roughly page 17 or so.

Under normal conditions I would be all up for trying another Hotfoot style STGOD, but between the three games I'm involved in right now, looking for a job, and gaming with my friends, my attention is barely holding as it is.

The idea of having an NPC empire for everyone to focus on first and act as the "n00b" is a good idea. I think a second mod would be needed for it though, because of the fact that you'll have everybody in the game bombarding the GM with questions about what their fleets are seeing during intel missions, when can we start the battle, etc. etc.

I third the idea. It would certainly be fun and I have a nation I would like to play with already created.

I miss my beloved Sixth Cruiser Squadron. :(

But when things devolve into three players involved in a proxy war in the ass of nowhere...bleah.

I'd consider it. But I really think we should look at something objective based, and with stronger rules. The rules for space combat are fine. They seem to work. The breakdown is in the rest of your power.

How much is the planet I just invaded worth?
My society is soooo much better than yours!
I easily incite a riot against your government.

And so forth. I'm rolling ideas around on how to do this without being overly complicated.

That kind of crap is why I ran the Sixth. Postage stamp power, unbalanced, wierd, fringe society. Extremism built in. When you know you aren't GOING to be the biggest and the baddest, you don't have to stress nearly as much :)

Maybe a system of "society points?" in which you have a baseline value of like...5 in various values such as "sneakyness" and "systemic resistance to espionage" (a social insectoid power for example would have a very high number because they recognize their own using cuticular hydrocarbons and specific phermone systems) , things of that nature which we can use a set amount of points at nation creation to raise. Have it one a 1-10 system and it costs say... 1 to raise by 1, 2 to raise by 2, 4 to raise by 3, etc. Doubles each incriment you increase and cumulative .In turn, you can decrease the number on a one for one basis

This number would be the same for ALL powers regardless of starting power level, and need resource points properly allocated and RPed to change
