Maelstrom STGOD Recruitment/OOC Thread

This thread is for recruiting and OOC discussion, regarding the new Maelstrom STGOD. Once we have some commited players, the IC thread will be posted. I'm not going to do the same mistake I made with the Trek STGOD and get people "commited" who then never post. You people say "aye", you have to post.

This is a crossover STGOD, with elements of Urban Arcana, Star Wars, Star Trek, C&C, Underworld, even Kill Bill, and whatever else gets added.

The plot is as follows: Q was feeling bored, so he swept Khan Noonien Singh from the tale end of the Eugenics War in the Trekverse, to modern day Earth. He also took Yuri from the C&C universe, and put him here as well.

Yuri and Khan don't know about each other, but have been given a lot of time to establish a small power base, and begin their individual plotting. By about six months later, Q also sends in more people, these being the protagonists, to oppose him. There are also some people in this world that are available to be recruited to your cause. At the moment, we have two that have been added, with many others to follow. I'll add them as they come up.

Madelline Webber - A Drow rogue (spellslinger) resident in New York City.

Selene - A Vampire Death Dealer resident in Budapest.

Blade - A half-Vampire Vampire Hunter.

Also, here's some stuff about the bad guys:

Yuri's Base of Operations: Transylvania

Khan's Base of Operations: Istanbul

Both villains have a small army at their command, which will confront the protagonists at various times. Yuri's soldiers use pyrokinetics as a weapon.

My characters are Mark Ferency and his wife, Demi. Mark is an Elven mercenary (gunslinger/soldier, dur), armed with a G36 assault rifle he jacked off of some cops, and custom-equipped. The weapon can also be equipped with, as necessary, silver bullets (for fighting Wherewolves), and magical rounds. Mark also has a Kabar knife. Demi is a Half-Elven low-level spellcaster, so she goes unarmed. Both start out in Budapest.

I've got Thomas Richardson as my character, an Elven Psion/Gunslinger (Urban Arcana/d20 Modern rules) armed with twin Berettas (+2 Enchantments on both, and with abjuration-piercing rounds), and he is a current travelling companion of Rose Tyler and the Doctor (#10). Starting place: London... as per usual Doctor Who earth-based episodes.

Kreshna: Kreshna was a former agent of 'Watchmen'; a secret, UN-sponsored organization concerning 'supernatural' beings among human population. After servicing for some times, he soon found a more lucrative field by being a hitman specializing on supernatural target. His biggest contract is when he was hired by a vampire clan to eliminate a leader of another clan.

However, his true identity remains relatively unknown among his various employers. Just like another professional hitman, Kreshna can only be contacted through secret means, while the payments goes to an anonymous Swiss bank account. In fact, Kreshna's identity as a hired assassin is almost unknown, as his clients have never been in direct contact with him.

Despite his experience with supernatural things, Kreshna is an agnostic and a skeptical person. For him, 'magic' is just an unknown branch of science, and every supernatural adversary can always be dissected, studied, and defeated by the right application of technology.

Among his favorite weapons are modified Walther WA 2000 sniper rifle, Micro-Uzi for self defense, and IMI Desert Eagle for sidearm. He mostly uses silver bullets, although he is also known to use other ingredients necessary to use against his supernatural targets. Kreshna is also very good in using Kukri; his knife, however, is entirely coated in silver.

Despite his weapon preferences, Kreshna is a pragmatic and practical person, and he will use anything from needles to planted explosives in performing his contracts.

I was wondering when I would get my D&D spell-slinger fix.

I dont know the power restriction on spellcasters but I wouldn;t mind playing Alvarius, a human imported by Q from Faerun. A bit of a womanizer, he is a talented spellcaster and has adapted fairly well to modern technology, all things considered.

Basic stats are as follows
Human Wizard 11
Int 23(effective for spellcasting 25)

Magical items on him: goggles of detect magic and read magic
wand of magic missile
wand of fireball
ring of clear throught +3

Other than the above, he runs light on magic items and is armed with a crossbow and a quarterstaff. However he has enough gold coins that he is not in need of material support.

Sounds good idea. Actually, a Wizard like you is among the reason why the UN founded the Watchmen on the first place. Yup, the existence of 'supernatural' beings (vampires, werewolves, wizards) among the population has disturbed governments around the world, so the Watchmen was founded to 'monitor' and 'control' them. Like in X-Men where the governments are watching the mutants.

EDIT: I imagine the Watchmen is a bunch of competent and ruthless agents; highly trained to deal with supernatural threats like vampires and such. See, the reason why I can be a kickass assassin for hire is because I am an ex-Watchmen.

), but we don't need White Wolf archmages, gods, Matrix characters, Sith Lords, Morgoth, and Optimus Prime showing up here. Just a reminder.

They're merely my favorite weapons; but I will use anything from magically poisoned needles to planted C4 to fulfill my contracts. I'm not a Rambo, though. An assassin for hire should be subtle.

Yup, I see Ben's character, being a Wizard he is, is way more powerful compared to 'mere humans' like my character in combat. So I guess Alvarius would make a good 'boss character', surrounded by minios who are doing his errands, while keeping his involvement suble and manipulative. Especially since we're doing a low-powered STGOD; urban settings and such.

Thing is, he can do a crap load of damage in one shot. But he is sort of a one-shot cannon. Has an 8 hour reloading time.

Bullets will frag him EASY if they can hit.

Well so who wants to play as the Watchmen's Director? Also, we still need two megalomaniacal world conquerors to play as Yuri and Khan

Now those two are not 'magical creatures', but they're ruthless leaders that willl do any means (including alliance and diplomacy, and maybe cooperating with the magical creatures) necessary to achieve their goals in world domination.

Ah well, I usually go for a Wizard who has a spellpoint system...

It's not nice to expend your only prepared fireball when you're facing an army of Trolls.

I am using a modified spellpoint system as well (prepped spells, unspecified numbers) AN you all know damn well I a scrupulous enough to hold to it.

Well, here's more about my character. I guess I need to "balance things up" since I'm the only normal humans among you guys, and I'm not a 'boss character' either (so I don't have a full army on my disposal)

Thus, I decided to make my character the best (and the most expensive) assassin for hire either to balance things against those 'magical' characters. So while I don't have magical ability, my 'conventional' skills farly surpass those of others; that explains the one million contract as well.

However, Kreshna's true identity is largely unknown among the potential employers and among the intelligence community. His professional name is 'Iceheart', and nobody really knows who 'Iceheart' actually is. See, like 'The Jackal' in the movie of the same name (starring Bruce Wills) or 'The Angel' in Sydney Sheldon's Windmill of the Gods. Of course, boss characters in this game (like the Wizard Alvarius) can always hire me to eliminate their 'undesirables'.

We need somebody to play Khan Noonien Singh and Yuri, when the time comes. They aren't to be introduced yet, but they will be soon enough. I'm hoping Adam'll be willing to play Khan.
