#1 40 K Game?

Post by Cynical Cat »

With the death to abscence of our other 40K game due to the absence of critical payers, a void is left at Librium. I am prepared to fill it, if others are interested, with another game. I have two possible scenarios kicking around in my head, one for more modestly powered Agents of the Throne and the other for the deadly members of the Deathwatch and associated members of the Imperial hierarchy (Inquisitors, high ranking Magos, Assassins, etcetera).
It's not that I'm unforgiving, it's that most of the people who wrong me are unrepentant assholes.

I've got an interest. My only real knowledge is with the higher power stuff but I'd be open to try one or the other.

My knowledge of 40k is scant...but I'd be willing to attempt a go, with some assistance.

I'm interested, although I won't have the time to do much until my exams and such end in a week or two.

I have no real preference concerning power levels.

Well I can help you with that.

See, when a deamon says "Hey let's be friends" you say "Ok, sure, that sounds nice." And then the Space Marines reward you with... erm... parades, yes, parades with lots of fireworks.

while the head of the parade, a man with a simple symbol of power, a stylised I, speaks one word to reward your loyal service to the Emperor.
Exterminatus.

Edit: Oh yeah..umm, I'm game. *goes and grabs his Inquisitor books*

Some helpful noob links

Inquisitor

Lots of background detail, character ideas, and fluff.

Necromundia

Fluff on the archetypical hive world.

It's something to do, why not. I'd probably lean to low-to-mid power, just because the high-end stuff gets rediculous in some areas. I can buy space marines and psykers, I can't buy death cultists who can run up walls and along the ceiling unassisted.

If they have flip belts its cool

So I have only one stated preference in power level and that for low . . . . . . and a three to one vote in the poll in favor of high powered. What gives?

Well, on reflection I'd prefer a higher power level (I have some character ideas, for one thing), but I'm happy with either.

It's all because each of us secretly craves the power to call down Exterminatus upon an entire world, consigning a billion souls to death in the blink of an eye, to wipe out the impurity of a few.

People who do that get a visit from Imperial Assassins or Inquisitors like Maladar. Exterminatus is not done lightly.

But what if they're inquisitors themselves and are in the right to do so?

I never said it was an undertaking done lightly or commonly. I just stated that we just all crave the power to do so

To illustrate, here is NecronLord's response to my suggestion (in a previous 40K RP) of vastly less extreme measures:
...You would be brought before a conclave of inquisitors for going for genocide rather than simply sending in billions of guard, and flayed alive, before being kept in agony for the rest of your days.

Happy? :P

For the corruption of a few, as you said, thats exactly who is going to visit you. Assassins or other inquisitors to make you very, very dead for destroying a world for trivial reasons (Maladar has killed nine other inquisitors as of the latest installment involving him).

Four to one. I just finally cast a vote for higher-powered. I've been having a Space Marine chapter idea float around in my head for awhile.

Ah well, I'm game either way. As long as the wank stays wh ere it belongs, in the wanked-out sections of 40k fluff. I only really mind it when baselines are doing stupefying stuff like that. :)

Well, higher-powered lets me be the full Techmarine-As-Seen-In-Fluff. And don't worry, no psykker in this guy. For reasons that might actually get explored this time around.

High Powered it is.

The base group will be a Deathwatch kill team, which allows everyone to be marines from their favorite chapter or uber non-marines associated with them or the Ordo Xenos. Throw up your proposed characters or PM me and then we'll hit the ground. Don't go too crazy on the gear.

Hmmm... single character or warband? I had a concept for a small group (3-4 people), although only one would be remotely uber enough to compare to a Marine. Would that be acceptable? I can pare it down to one character if not.

Remember as Deathwatch you'll have access to plenty of custom bolter rounds such as hellfire, kraken, and metal storm.
