#1 The 40K RP Strikes Back. (Continuation of 40KLoD on SDN)

Okay, Ladies and gentleinquisitors. The Demon's defeated, half the Inquisition is headed down to Cyrus Gamma, as well as sizeable numbers of space marines (including, to satisfy my fanboyness, some of the Raven Guard chapter). Our brave conspiritors and their stooges have just resolved how to keep their conspiracy going, their pet saint seems to be occupied aboard ship. Having had their leader killed, they've got to keep away from the more... traditional... inquisitors, keep the wool pulled over the eyes of the Mechanicus, and try and figure out what the Dark Powers have been, and still are up to.
So, who's going to be participating in the sequel then?

While you're at it, you can all write a few notes on the current status of your characters, so I can assign limps, mutilations, broken bones and other persistant injuries.

Gix has cracked ribs, but they are healing. Severa was stabbed in the back, but pulled through in surgery and is on light duty. Hethor has lots of broken bones, a bunch of new scars, and is recovering in whatever 40K calls a sick bay.
Pater and Prius (aka Colonel-Commissar Grevious) don't have any recent serious injuries. Varian is fucked up, having been badly burned over most of his body. Intensive medical care and biomancy healing was used to put him in good enough condition to fight at the climatic battle.

Good to see you've taken such good care of him.

So this is going to start right after the last one? Nuts. I was hoping to fit a few zany adventures inbetween them. :P

You know what they say. "If you want it done right, do it yourself."
At least Varian got some action. While I was away Pater got studiously overlooked. :)

You're the one who decided to do a headlong charge against crack Tzeentchan troops who were pouring heavy fire into your position.

Prius, however, was so loaded on drugs and wasted from the fight with A HUNDRED FUCKING THOUSAND MEN* that he doesn't really remember anything from what happened at the chapel.
Which works nicely for my not having been there.
Nevertheless, so long as the Cogboys keep the parts functional, the Commissar will continue to serve as Him on Terra wills.
*ONE HUNDRED FUCKING THOUSAND CULTISTS, actually, and however many elite troops that rat bastard Cat threw at us...

Oh, and I must say that it's rather nice of the Astartes to finally show up, after Carnis did all the heavy lifting with a stitched-together collection of PDF troops, penals, and the remnants of the IG units assigned to Adraxis. Quick, call the media so we can get some glamor shots of the Ultrasmurfs charging a holdout cultist garrison!

"Once again the Ultramarines, bearers of the Divine Emperor's torch, utterly destroy a cultist's position. It is reported that there were no losses on the part of our valiant protectors."
(Camera shows a Cultist prisoner kneeling on the ground in handcuffs with his Chaotic tattoos decorously blanked out. Two Ultramarines are talking nearby)
"It is with joyous hearts that we report the total supression of enemy forces on this planet. Reports of fighting continuing in the sub-hive stacks are erroneous and anyone purporting to their veracity should be reported to the nearest Inquisitous Adeptus station for immediate reeducation. AVE IMPERATOR!"
(One of the Space Marines abruptly pulls out his Bolt Pistol and shoots the Cultist in the back of the head)

One hundred thousand first wave.
Another one hundred thousand cannon fodder infantry.
About two hundred thousand regulars.
One hundred thousand high quality troops.

So on top of everything else, our intel only underestimated enemy strength by five hundred percent. At least we can be thankful for the unusually accurate work by our spooks.

The one hundred thousand was only ever the first wave. It's just a fucking huge first wave.

Yeah, but we had twenty thousand troops, and the senior Judge said that we were outnumbered five to one.
Eat your frickin' heart out, Colonel Travis. I bet we had like a hundred survivors.

You were outnumbered five to one by the first wave and you had closer to two thousand survivors (most of them wounded). Of course, you were able to give a lot of ground and fall back to fortified and booby trapped positions.

Two thousand?
Shit, we had enough left over for a token offensive. If only that stupid Thorve hadn't overruled Prius' plan for a fully mobile force...

Then Prius could have gotten everyone killed. :D
You did have offensive strike missions, but unfortunately the Sisters of Battle were wasted by sending them after the artillery which was only good in The Gap, which you were going to loose anyway.

I assume everyone has the same character(s), in which case I will have to make a new one(s). Anyone/thing in particular you guys would want?

Prius was planning for everyone to die anyway, at that point. Striking the artillery was strictly something to piss them off. And it worked nicely, as did the Sword strike team that ran their security elements in circles for a few hours before getting cornered.

Whatever floats your boat, really. We're a bit Inquisitor-laden, but we could even work in another one of those, if you so desire.

Judging from the OP, you *could* play a Space Marine.
