#1 Anyone interested in Battlefleet Gothic?

Because all of the necessary rules are free online and in downloadable PDF format and for some reason it has struck my fancy, and just from reading through the rules it looks like its quite a bit of fun that also lends itself well to narratives in the campaign and in the after action reports. The only problem would be running the battles, but I'm sure something could be worked out.
So is there anyone interested in this sort of thing? We don't even really need a GM for this one, although a coordinator could be useful.

We do have a dice rolling set up for the board. I'm not sure how we would do the ship movement and placement however...

Interested? Yes. Doing mapping and movement is going to be the big barrier.

Well, I'm sure there's some program out there that would allow the movement of the pieces and such. Something like OpenRPG might work well enough, and worse case scenario there is always something like using Paint to figure out the positional relationships for everything, although that would really suck.

Open RPG might work very well I think.

Okay, I checked, and yeah, OpenRPG should work just fine. I only fiddled around a bit, but the miniatures bit has both facing and heading options. I'm sure someone more experienced with the program could point out other things that could be done and such, but it looks like it should be easy enough to pull off.
For those interested, what race would you like to play? 'Cause there are a variety of options.
The ever popular and ubiquitous Imperium.
The marauding forces of Chaos.
Eldar pirates, not as hard hitting but far faster and more manueverable than the other races.
Orks, orks, orks, orks, orks!
Tau, if you enjoy getting your ships blown out from under your ass frequently
Necrons, if you're a enjoy playing a fleet that does not know the meaning of the phrase 'game balance'
Tyranids, if eating planets is your thing.
As a subset of the Imperium, there is also the Adeptus Mechanicus if you like high tech ships that pack lots of firepower but aren't into complete cheese like the Necrons

Chaos, because I don't mind losing as Chaos and I love massive gun decks.

I'm digging the Imperium right now, but there are also story possibilities with Chaos that could make things interesting. Chaos on Chaos fighting is also especially good because there's no way to feel bad! No matter who wins, an evil psychopath went down!

So as there seems to be no further interest here, I will probably be taking this over to SDN, where while still a good place it does have no dice rolling program for in between actual games, and unfortunately more people with lower RP abilities reside. As Hotfoot can attest.

Easy Nut, I'm still thinking which race I want to play.

Well then give me some feedback so that I don't think there's no interest here. Which of the races are you most interested in?

Okay, I do believe I have decided to go with a Chaos fleet simply because Chaos knows how to ham it up. However, I am slightly scratching my head over how the fleet lists and the promotions tables interact, primarily in the purchasing of extras at the beginning. So I know that in standard campaigns Chaos and Imperial forces start with 2000 points and that the promotions table represents the advancement of your leader, but does that table represent free improvements or what you are allowed to actually purchase?

Let me go reread the campaign stuff and get back to you about this.

So starting with 2000 points I have generated the following fleet list:
1 Desolator class battleship Cheerful Reaper
1 Styx class heavy cruiser Haemoptysis
1 Hades class heavy cruiser Empyema
4 Carnage class cruisers Escherichia, Clostridium, Vibrio, Yersina
1 squadron of 4 Idolator raiders Glossina squadron
1 squadron of 6 Infidel raiders Aedes squadron
This totals out to 1915 points, leaving me with 85 points that depending on what else I might need to buy will in all likelihood get used purchasing leadership items.
Also, rolling for leadership
Cheerful Reaper
Haemoptysis
Empyema
Escherichia
Clostridium
Vibrio
Yersina
Glossina squadron
Aedes squadron
As an aside, you can probably figure out the theme for this fleet.

I'm thinking I'll go Imperial. 2000 pts for fleet?

Yes, 2000 points per player to start with if you're Imperial or Chaos. Eldar and Ork pirates start off with 1500 points but have the advantage of starting off with a hidden base. I'm not sure how many points Tyranids start with. Probably 2000 since they attack and claim planets.

Squadron of 3 is a fast moving, maneuverable Firepower 12 broadside. And they're tougher than they look on paper, especially with Brace for Impact orders.
