Since I'm still getting used to this system as I'm reading the books where I can, this is primarily for myself and others who are transitioning from familiarity with D&D 3.x.
From what I read before I came to work today, the gleemax.com forums are min/maxing SW:Saga in the same manner as they did for D&D, though with less apparent interest. So, this thread will be for my own notes and discovery, although discussion is of course welcome.
So far, I'm going for a cheddar monk build in mind.

So, making a character with Jedi as first Heroic Level (e.g. level 1 character).
Skills are 2 + int mod / level, out of (Acrobatics, Endurance, Initiative, Knowledge(all), Perception, Pilot, Use the Force).
First level in Jedi gives defense bonuses, a lightsaber, starting feats (Force Sensitivity, Weapon Proficiency: Lightsaber, Weapon Proficiency: Simple Weapons), and a talent drawn from any Jedi-available tree.
Added Jedi talent tree: Jensaarai Defender (for being Jensaarai Force Adept trained), picking Force Cloak as free Level 1 talent.
STR, DEX, WIS, CHA are best attributes. (for notes on picking species; Human as current default)
Extra feat is Martial Arts I (hand damage moves up from 1d6 to 1d8)
(skills, etc. next)
