#1 The Witching Hour (40K Forum Game)

So if enough people are interested I am willing to run a 40K forum game. It will be set in the city of Mourninghast on the Hive World of Zindan. A cool world orbiting a sullen red star, Zindan is a world of torn up meadows, hollowed out mountains, sprawling cities, and the haunted forests between them. A shadow lies over Mourninghast. Dreamers stir, from the golden spires of the High City to the shops and apartments of Via Solaris to the crumbling hab blocks of the Tumbledown. They number in the dozens and they see each other when they sleep, standing in the darkened streets of the city under the gaze of a great and terrible burning eye that blots out the sun and consumes all life.
This will be a Dark Heresy style, cyberpunky Lovercraftian horror story with a really cool 80's hard rock album cover. A wide variety of characters can work. All are connected by the dream. Characters should be presented as follows or close to it.
Name:
Employment and Social Status:
General Description:
Notable Traits and abilities:
Resources:
Notable Gear:
Everyday Clothes and Equipment:
No Pariahs or members of the Inquisition. I really didn't think I needed to say no space marines.

Name: Tavis Urdrena
Occupation: Former City Warden, currently an enforcer for a downhive criminal syndicate, the Plasma Burns.
General Description: Tall, thin, gaunt, yet wiry. His eyes have a permanent yellowing in the sclera from the Headshot combat stim he regularly indulges in, while the violet irises speak of (distant) Cadian ancestry. Shaves his head, then lets it grow out a bit before noticing and shaving it again. When he does have some fuzz going, it's a dirty blond. Hygiene is rather indifferent, the clothing and armor he wears tend to be soiled from his work and living conditions. He has the mark of the gang, a scarred blotch on his cheek from the heated coils of a freshly-fired plasma pistol. Wears his stubgun at his waist and has a brace of blades. Moves with unusual grace and coordination, a product of his own natural dexterity and the usual Headshot buzz.
Notable traits and abilities: Practices Triata, a local capoeira-style martial art with copious amounts of knife-fu and gun-fu, can be pretty awesome when he's fully loaded. Was actually once a fairly decent investigator in the narcotics section before giving in to temptation. Driving skills can best be described as 'saved by luck and fast reflexes'. Fairly decent layman's understanding of chemistry, particularly that which relates to narcotic manufacture and the making of explosives.
Resources: Whatever money he's managed to score lately and a gang that can be riled up to fight under the right circumstances.
Equipment: Two stubguns, holdout pistol in his boot, knives all over the place, shatterproof narcotics vials secreted everywhere, piecemeal armor protecting his shoulders, chest, and knees. Antiquated combat bike that started life in service of a PDF regiment but has seen better decades. Often has a grenade or two of some sort or another (frag or smoke/stun gas, typically.)
This is pretty much his everyday gear and clothing as well as everything he owns.
Notes:
Has a permanent mental imbalance from the Headshot which essentially renders him somewhat bipolar. Prone to grandiose moments, occasional fits of anger, and the blackest depressions.
Headshot also affects his digestive processes, fucking up his ability to absorb nutrients. As a consequence he eats a lot but still struggles to maintain any sort of weight and fighting shape.

Given I'm interested, perhaps you should expand that to space marines?

Well, so much for my chaos-worshipping Mentor Legion on loan to the Inquisition. Hail Tzeentch.

He totally didn't disallow Chaos-turned Custodes.
ETA: WAIT.
Chaos-corrupted genestealer-infested Custodes with Necron living metal cybernetics carrying a Tau railgun and rocking an Eldar holo-shield. And... um... and Ork toof necklace.

Given my penchant for paladins(And apparently alliteration), are Grey Knights considered part of the Inquisition?

I thought a Harlequin's Kiss would be a little cheesy so I throttled it back.

Given he said no Space Marines and no Inquisition... Grey Knights are very clearly out of bounds, they're more powerful then both. But hey, maybe I'm misreading Cat.

Yes and they're also Space Marines and they'll also have no business hanging around in a hive city. Given the wide expanse that is 40K, if the only paladin concept you can manage is a Space Marine you're not trying nearly hard enough.

Name: Markavius Ironwill
Occupation: Retired Commissar, currently operating a Confession Center, a facility for all right-minded Imperial Citizens to confess the small heresies they witness, in the lower hive. The lack of people coming is clearly a sign of the encroaching moral failings of the city. Hasn't shot anyone in the head for two months.
Description: Powerfully built, in his older years. Brown-grey eyes that have that practiced look of seeing beyond one's surface lies. Clean shaven and neatly trimmed hair, still under the officer's cap. Typically wears a breastplate with names of campaigns he was on etched into them. Wears no marks of honor or distinction, not even campaign badges. The greatcoat has no gaudy silver or gold trimming as is traditional, and looks as if such was removed by an inexpert hand. A high-quality bionic eye has replaced most of the left side of his face, but one can still see the claw marks of some beast. The mark of the Emperor's sacrifice.. A winged skull.. Is actually branded onto the back of his right hand.
Notable Traits: A veteran of many battles, on many worlds, Markavius is hard to shake and even harder to force to back down. Vehicle-certified in most Imperial Guard/PDF vehicles.
Resources: Eighty years of back pay from the Commissart.
Notable Gear: Carapace armor, Chainsword, Ceres-pattern Bolt Carbine(Chosen for it's superior accuracy; commissars who need to spray-n-pray are not worthy of the rank in his view), tattered copy of the Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer, lucky coin.
Everyday clothing/gear: Carapace breasteplate, greatcloak, officer's cap, chainsword, Primer, lucky coin.

Drop the Psyslayer/Daemonhost nonsense and clarify what you mean by a Confession Center and you're good.

I prefer giving colorful nicknames. For example this is "Guy-we're-going-to-drop-our-hijacked-battle-barge-on."

It's a forum game and I do believe we're waiting for more victims, though Cyncat's the final authority there.

Ok, let me take a stab at this. Sorry for (no not really) any headaches that may ensue.
Name: Jecker Glitz
Employment and Social Status: Professional thief for hire, loner by trade.
General Description: 5' 6" 150 pounds of lean muscles. Not too short, but agile and small enough to get by with his work. All hair shaven and fingerprints removed for extra measure to leave as little trace behind as possible during his thievery. Would rather incapacitate security guards, etc than kill them but will if necessary. Rather work alone, but will be a cog in the job if the money is right.
Notable Traits and abilities: Lock picking security systems ranging from your average door to bank vaults as well as pick-pocketing things like your wallet if need be.
Resources: If he needs money, he'll just take your wallet like it was never there, you white collar hiver scum!
Notable Gear: Stub automatic with silencer, multikey, bolas, drop harness, grapnel, magnoculars, lascutter, backpack
Everyday Clothes and Equipment: Flak jacket, stub automatic, knuckle duster, club, chrono. Wears the average hiver clothes to blend in and a hat to hide bald head.
