"Many thanks," Torma answered the gate guard. "My companions and I are seeking another friend, the mage Astinius. He mentioned he would be found here the next few days. May we enter?"

"Go right ahead," said the half-elf. "No pie stealing or you'll answer to the law. And pets are not meals."

Torma blinked in shock... and then slowly grinned. "If I pay for the pies, and they happen to have pets in them, does that count?" she teased.

Thhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhpppppppppppppppppppppp.
It was a playful razzing as Torma did as she was told, passing through the gate with Malkamar and Gaheris in tow.

"Many thanks." Malkamar bowed to the guard and followed the dragon. "Come, Torma! This is civilization. No one bakes lost pets into the pies..."

"That's not civilization, that's where civilization puts it's trash." Malkamar said briskly, never missing a beat.

"Seems to be one common thought on Waterdeep," Torma had to say. She herself hated going anywhere near the town. Pity. She did want to hear the elven ghost sing one day.

"Gar, did Astinius tell you where he'd be, or do we have to search the whole city?"

Astinius reached the Temple of Mystra and no sooner was he in the door thatn Mr. Toad popped up once more

"I'm hungry" he mentioned in his croaking toad voice.

"Well" the magus replied "The others may or may not have been able to teleport here... if they got to Candlekeep it is a fair bet they had a way back, which means they could have made it here. I'll tell you what. I will stay here where it is relatively safe. There should be plenty of insects, and rodents, for you to eat on your way to the city gates from here. If you see them, they know your voice, and should be able to recognize a toad the size of someone's head"

"Alright Boss, eat, and find our friends if they are here"

"Good. I will be able to see what you see, and will be there as fast as I can if you get into trouble"

"Alright, see you in a bit"

"Good luck"

...

And with that, Mr. Toad went on an adventure. Sticking to the shadows, the over-sized amphibian hopped toward the main city gate and listened very intently for any sign of a Copper dragon. She should be too easy to miss.

Gaheris followed along. The Vara'Dome nominally had a chapter here, but whether Amargein and Bearach would actually be in town was anyone's guess; the two spent more time trying to insinuate agents into Luskan than sitting around in one of the North's most placid and well-governed cities. He'd touch bases if there was time, but for now he had to try to find Astinius first.

"No, he didn't say where he was. He's contacted me with that spell before; you can only say so much before it cuts out. That's why I was being so terse back at Candlekeep." He looked around. "If I know Astinius, though, he'd try to seek protection after being attacked. That means either the city authorities or a Mystran temple. He might have tried to make contact with some of my men if he knew where they could be found, but I don't think he does."

"This is Astinius. If he's been touched, he'll be wanting a nice safe place to wash all the nasty grimy dirt off in," Torma said, sniggering. "Mystra's temple is my bet."

"Probably," Gaheris responded. He hadn't been to Silverymoon in years, and the last time he was here, Mystra's house of worship had been the last thing on his mind. He looked around for a likely local to ask directions from, preferably a guard or other person less likely to be annoyed by random travelers asking questions.

Astinius was locked in prayer. Sitting on a bench in a state of half-reverie. Alert, but inwardly talking to Mystra. He wasn't doing what so many others do when they pray. He was almost discussing is day with the Godess. Musing over magic, his thoughts on the nature of the weave, almost as if he was seeing approval or confirmation without ever saying it.

...

Mr. Toad was engaged in a duel of wits with a mouse. He sat in the shadows, a little piece of bread that he found was in front of him just within striking range. But he kept listening for Astinius' name being mentioned, and looking around for a Copper Dragon

Gaheris approached the first person he saw in the street who wasn't busy. If there were none such, he entered the first open public building.

"Excuse me," he said, putting on his best smile for the benefit of whoever he ended up addressing. "We're looking for the temple of Mystra. Could you point us in the right direction, please?"

The woman blinked. "Your kidding right? No you're not, are you. Must be new to the city. Go straight to the palace from here, stop at the big white building when you're most of the way there."

"Many thanks. New to the area." Malkamar bowed to the woman overly-formally, laying his accent on thick. He'd sound like a Halruaan noble fresh off the skyship, but it did the trick. And then it was off towards the temple.

"Yeah, just got in. Haven't been here in years," he said by way of explanation. "Sorry to bother you." He started striding off in the indicated direction.

Silverymoon was broken up into different districts, some of which enjoyed special magical properties courtesy of Silverymoon's mythal. The city itself was a mix of different race's architectural styles with such things as a gnome burrow in a hillock beneath a human house and above them both an elven tree home being common place.

It wasn't hard at all to spot the cathedral of Mystra as they got close to the palace. The gleaming white structure was an appropriate edifice for the wealthiest and most magic rich city in the North.

Not hearing anything, and doubting if he would, Mr. Toad pounced upon his prey. He leaned forward as the little mouse got to the cheese, and out came his sticky tongue. It grabbed hold of the doomed rodent's fur and he reeled it in to his gaping maw. The mouse struggled valiantly and attempted to escape, but it was soon over, the mouse disappearing into Mr. Toad's gullet. .

With that done, he started to hop back toward the temple

Torma smiled to the woman without showing a single fang and followed Malk and Gar along the road, her head swiveling on her neck to take in everything around her.

As Mr. Toad turned around, as he should have done when looking around, as he has no movable neck, he saw Torma looking right at him.

"Croak" he said. Not making the sound, but rather, speaking the word

Torma's head cocked, her eyes narrowing. "I know that toad..." she said quietly, her head lowering into 'stalkmode' as she moved off to catch him.
