The bladesmen next to Gaheris knew their business. Knives flashed into their hands and they struck. At the last moment the paladin twisted away from the blades, averting the worst. Both knives drew blood [9 and 10 points of damage] [2x Fort save DC: 18 for poison]

Ahead, one of the three men chocked and slowed. The others were unimpeeded. Thrown blades flashed through the air.

A thrown blade caught Astinius in the side [22pts, DC 18 poison save] another grazed Malkamar's arm [11pts, DC 18 poison]. Another blade bounced off Torma's scales.

The other four rushed from behind. One flanked Torma on the left, the other attacked the dragonling from behind. One knife drew blood [18pts, DC 18 poison]. Another sliced at Astinius's back, but missed the elf. Malkamar wasn't so fortunate and blade of the lunging thug struck him solidly in his lower ribs. [20pts, DC 18 poison]

Bright Edge was in Gaheris' hand in a flash as he winced, the power of Tyr barely saving him from the poison. He slashed at the woman, rotating to face the pair as he brought the sword around.

[15+19=34 to hit, 4+5=9 damage, 4+4+3+5=16 damage if she's evil.]

Gaheris's slash opened a deep cut on the woman's upper arm. Smoke rose from her flesh where the blessed steel connected.

Torma silently cursed the fact that the breath weapon only affected one of those by the wagon, knowing it would be several minutes before she could breathe again. She snarled as two struck at her from flank and side. Fools, did they not know how deadly melee with a dragon is? Even as she felt the mild sting of something *more* on the blades, her dragon constitution defuses the poison, leaving her unharmed.

Pity the two attacking her, as she spins in place to bring her natural weapons to bear. The one behind her (#1) is smacked by a wing buffet, more to get him/her out of the way than with any hopes of actually harming him/her. The one that had tried to flank her (#2) was her true target as she showed him why you do not get within range of a dragon's teeth and claws.

All of Torma's strikes hit home and drew blood or bruised flesh. Shredded clothing revealed mail shirts underneath. He primary opponent was bloodied, but not disabled.

Astinius felt the blade stab into his side first, then felt the poison spread through his body. He gritted his teeth, and managed to resist the effects (11+13=24)

Then he went to work. He had to get away from the knife wielding bastad behind him quickly as he was short on defensive spells for having to prepare for Gaheris' much-vaunted stealth, never again he vowed to himself. He bit down a curse and began weaving a spell, careful to bob and weave defensively lest his attacker be able to strike him when he was vulnerable.

He disappeared in a small flash and reappeared on a nearby rooftop which would give him cover from flying daggers and arrows.(Dimension Door)

He overlooked the street and was also able to determine where his next spell would fly.

Poison flowed into the Shadovar, and extradimensional blood simply purged it. [16 + 12 = 28, 16 + 12 = 28] The first thing the man assaulting Malkamar would see as 'wrong' would be the fact he was grinning as he spun, his hand slipping into his own shadow... [Swift Action: Shadowcraft a +5 Merciful Bastard Sword. Craft DC: 26. Craft bonus: 31. 15 + 31 = 46 vs. 26] And out came a sword, or at least a sword-shaped peice of shadow. The next moments were nothing good.

A flurry of blows rained down, two-handed, from the suddenly-incarnate bastard sword.

In the aftermath of Astinius's vanishing act and Malkamar smashing one of their assailants into unconciousness, the attackers struck again.

The daggerman attacking Gaheris drew blood as the woman's blow was impeeded by her wound. [6pts and poison again]

One of the knife thrower's spotted Astinius where he crouched in hiding and sent a blade that grazed his shoulder [6pts and more poison]. The other two rushed to attack Malkamar and Torma.

The attacker behind Torma slipped over to attack Malkamar as the other one charged in to attack him from behind. [31pts, 18pts, 12pts and poison x3]

The remaining attacker on Torma slid to her side as the other thrower rushed to attack her other side. [19pts, 24pts and 2xpoison]

Gaheris slid into the rhythm of combat, expertly countering his opponents' moves while stabbing at every opening.

Gaheris's second strike drew a long, shallow cut on the woman's abdomen that sizzled and bled.

Torma snarled as the one she'd been attacking managed to slip to her flank, and growled as she felt the blows from a second flanker. The poison flowed into her, but once again her draconic constitution proved the better. However, the more they hit, the more poison in her system. Sooner or later they'd overwhelm her with it. Her breath weapon still recharging, she was forced to continue fighting tooth and claw.

But that didn't mean she couldn't be smart about it. She reared on her hind legs, her wings snapping at one attacker, hoping to distract him so she could focus her claws on the other.

Her claws swing out to the left as she falls back to all fours, both strikes aimed for the other opponent. As she touches down, her flexible neck swings in, jaws snapping at his torso and head.

The poison didn't take hold on Malkamar, but he was starting to lose alot of the midnight-black ichor that flowed in his veins. A moment's thought summoned up more shadows around him, to hopefully deflect more of the assaults. [Swift Action; Armour Of Shadows, +4 Deflection]

He laid into the next volunteer for his wrath, the huge two-handed weapon devastatingly powerful despite it's ethereal nature.

Astinius bit down and ground his teeth as magic flowed around him, helping his weak body resist the effects of the poison. (19+11=30)

Still, he couldnt take many more of them, his body was tender compared to the battle-hardened forms of his companions. He spent most of his time in study, learning how to resist mental rather than physical challenges.

And it was to a mental challenge he bent himself now. His hand disappeared into his robes and he pulled out a rancid piece of what looked like a tentacle. He threw it into the air and invoked words of power, bending the weave to his will, and shaping it with a flurry of movement from his hands. The piece of tentacle disappeared in a flash of light, and the area around every attacker exploded in an orgy of grasping, groping tentacles (Black Tentacles). Astinius was not without forethought however. He created spaces within the tentacle mass in which the tentacles would not enter, spaces for Torma, Malkamar, and Gaheris, as well as any innocent which was caught within the area of effect.

Torma mauled another one of her attackers, both of whom were bleeding freely now as Malkamar hacked down yet another opponent.

Clusters of black, rubbery tentacles erupted from the earth to writh and twist around the knife wielding attackers, curling around limbs or torsos and squeezing.

That didn't make the adventurer's safe from their blades. The man hover and waiting for an opening eluding the tentacles assaulting him and threw a blade at Astinius which missed.

Torma was knifed twice [9pts, 9pts poison x2].

Malkamar was took a minor wound in his upper thigh [8pts, poison].

Gaheris recieved a thin cut [6pts, poison].

Astinius was struck twice by the knife thrower [9pts, 9pts poison x2].

The man landed a lucky hit, grazing Gaheris' sword arm. He gritted his teeth and kept on the bleeding woman, wanting to bring her down to halve the chances of one of them getting luckier still. "Care to give it up," he asked in as casual a tone as he could muster while working Bright Edge with dazzling speed.

Gaheris's first blow caught the woman in the left lung, the second thrust pierced her heart. The paladin followed up by nearly severing the man's left arm.

Torma was worried now. She'd been hit far too many times, even tho the poison was not harming her. The mere daggers were causing this meant heavy magic. She wished her breath weapon had recharged, but the battle would be over one way or another by then. She absently hoped Gaheris had healing potions as she took advantage offered by the tentacles, flanking one of her opponents so she wouldn't have to deal with a second attacker.

Astinius winced as a knife stabbed into his arm, and another pierced his shoulder. The poison working its way into his system. His body and magical defenses working to stop it, and just barely succeeding at overcoming the toxin. (10+11=21 and 8+11=19)

Astinus knew he couldnt take much more punishment fromthse knifes, he would have to vercome these men quickly. He allowed himself to slip into his magical trance. This spell would be more difficult than his previous ones. His hand slipped into a pouch and withdrew a piece of a sponge. He whispered words over it as it was in his hands and it disappeared in a puff of smoke.

Astinius muttered words of power with his hand outstretched toward the battle below. When he finished the spell, he moved his hand in a downward sweeping motion.

Then the air around the attackers began to suck the moisture from their bodies. Their skin tightened around their flesh, and their blood became thicker.

Horrid Wilting DC 27 fortitude Save for half damage

66 damage all around, barring saves.

Mist rose from withered bodies as all their attackers fell lifelessly to the cobbles.

"Hmm... So much for prisoners" Astinius muttered with a sardonic grin as he looked for a way down

"Sorry" he said loud enough for his companions to hear "At least I didnt burn the street!"

He plucked the dagger from his side, and thrust it into his belt, careful not to stab himself with it in the process

Torma slumped as the enemies fell lifeless around her, too hurt and exhausted to really care how the battle ended. "About time, Astinius..." she grumbled, more to keep up appearances than anything else. "Now I'm *really* hungry.... Oh... someone check the wagon up there.. they came from it."
