"I am willing. You have made me very curious."Charon wrote:Johann shook his head. "Nothing except ask that you wait and allow me to explain myself before you decide what to do with me." Johann's expression, and the way he held himself, gave the impression that he felt very old, very worn-down. He was quiet as he waited for John's response to his offer.

Johann shooed the apprentice who had been listening in for some time and the boy moved away from them, disappearing around a corner. Johann looked in the direction he went for a few more seconds before he spoke. "I know you're still there boy. Get moving before I make you regret trying to eaves-drop on me." The sound of scampering feet followed the threat. The Silence and I wrote:"I am willing. You have made me very curious."
Johann looked back at John. "I am not what I seem to be, just as you are not as you appear to be. Though my condition is very different from yours. I am what in these lands and these times is called a revenant. That is how I can tell what you are." Johann leaned against one of the work benches and crossed his arms infront of his chest. "I befell this fate during the second crusade, and upon my return to the German lands I have lived in hiding since, as befits our kind. Recently another moved into this area, maybe ten years ago. He knew what I was almost immediately. I admit, sir, that I am not the strong man I once was. The years have been unkind to me, and with the threat of my identity being revealed to the town by the man who discovered it, I had little choice but to build for him what he asked."
Johann paused again. "I do not think myself a man of evil, and I have done all I can to lessen the damage I have done, but I know it is not enough. But I do not wish to die again."

"At this time and in this place my objective is to safeguard this town from a threat the magistrate emphatically described as external. We have exchanged secrets and I shall consider us even as far as that goes, so I shan't act against your internal activities. You have answered my questions. I may have more in the future but for now I must consider the many words I have heard recently. Have a good night, if you don't mind I'll be holding on to these for a while."Charon wrote:Johann looked back at John. "I am not what I seem to be, just as you are not as you appear to be. Johann was quiet as John packed up his belongings. "If I could, I would help you. All I can say is this, the threat is from inside the city, and it will know that you know if you begin acting like it may be."The Silence and I wrote:"At this time and in this place my objective is to safeguard this town from a threat the magistrate emphatically described as external. With that the old blacksmith returned to his work at hand.

The conversation over, John walks back to his room at the inn and retreats within it, presumably until morning breaks and the next day's events begin to unfold.Charon wrote:With that the old blacksmith returned to his work at hand.

As John was leaving the blacksmith's shop, Agrilos spotted him. Walking over to meet him, Agrilos hailed him. "[German]Ah, there you are, John. Paul has news, please head over to the church before anything else. I'll see you there once I find everyone else.[/German]"The Silence and I wrote:The conversation over, John walks back to his room at the inn and retreats within it, presumably until morning breaks and the next day's events begin to unfold.
After delivering his message, Agrilos walked off in search of the only one on his list as of yet unfound: Krystyna.

"Alright. I'll put off my rest a little longer. I hope the news is good."
He walks heavily through the night to the church and the other mercenaries. Once inside he takes a seat by the door, seeming to enjoy the chance to sit (OOC: this isn't one of them thar standing churches, is it?).

it did not take long to reach his desired destination and after a brief exchange with the inn owner he made it into his room. The fear that he had seen on the eyes of some of those within the Inn had not gone unnoticed but this was one of the times when it was actually of use. He was not bothered as he made his way into the room, the door closed and locked behind him. Under normal circumstances he would have reached out and touched his power in order to ward the entire room against intrusion. Unfortunately, he was far too exhausted to do that.
Still, he was not without means. As he approached the bed and sat down on it he reached into himself and tapped a power that was already active. The protection spell that surrounded his body was gathered, individual strands manipulated as the spell was redirected around his bed. In that manner, he transferred an existing spell from one location to another without having to tap into his own ebbing power. Once the spell was fully transferred he sighed softly and rolled on his back.
He was asleep moments later.

"There were two men talking," said Paul "I overheard them, but did not see them. They were talking about the attack and it was clear they were involved in it. They were confident that the one tomorrow would succeed. They would have the aid of trolls and one named 'Johann'."

"What is Per's condition? If we shall face trolls then one of his stature would be of immense aid. Also, where is Francisco?"Cynical Cat wrote:"There were two men talking," said Paul "I overheard them, but did not see them. "Francesco is asleep... because he almost tried to kill everyone. He went a little bit crazy"
Crazy, crazy is an understatement, he had wings of fire and was hallucinating vampires...
"We can only hope that the Church does not catch wind of him, or all three of us could be in...trouble..." With that, manfred looked around quizically

"No... but... There are other ways a blacksmith could aid an enemy, if he is indeed a blacksmith."
Manfred seemed to wander off in his own thoughts for a moment
"If he is the other wizard, stifling us from within... He will need to be...questioned" his eyes darted around faster than they had in the past few moments. The brief respite he felt from his derangement was coming to a close.

Walking back into the church, Agrilos sat down near the others to hear the goings-on. Thus far, it appeared the plot was thickening as much as the blood spilled this night.

"Not so fast there Manfred, think! If he is a wizard with the power to meddle with you and Francisco, why would he pose as a mere artisan? Moreover--if he has such a power, HOW can he do so? You couldn't fit in with the common man if your life depended on it--the madness would give you away within a day. As the blacksmith Johann is under near constant surveillance from damn near the ENTIRE town. I hope your paranoia isn't so advanced that you could suspect an entire town of hiding such a truth from us!""If he is the other wizard, stifling us from within... Manfred closed his eyes and concentrated, forcing himself back to reality, abd bludgeoning his paranoia back into a deep dark hole like a madman screaming NO NO! DOWN DOWN DOWN MINE MINE MINE! referring of course to his faculties being his.

If he isn't stopped John leaves shortly after and heads directly to his room, telling anyone up to call him if a disturbance occurs.
