Torma was getting annoyed. She shook her head, warning Malkamar to let go or ELSE.

It's the Or Else part she'd have to work on.

Astinius struggled against the grapple, knowing that his spell wouldnt help him much. Still it was worth a shot. He did however have one other trick up his sleaves.

Fort save:

And spoke the command word to activate the gloves of shocking grasp (does he even need to roll, seeing as his hands are pretty much automatically touching the thing)

The monster writhed and hissed as lightning coursed over several of its tendril. The monster snarled, black smoke pouring out of its jaws. A green flash illuminated the monster and it froze as its flesh became translucent. Astinius was now held by a glass statue.

A dark haired human with a short beard appeared. He was wearing a robe of white samite lined with fur. "Are you alright?" he asked.

"barely." He said. "I have been poisoned, but should be alright. Thank you"

Astinius struggled to get out of the pin. It was just a matter of slipping out of the creature's grasp now.

Once he was out he introduced himself

"Astinius, at your service. Especially because I probably owe you my life"

"Candirus, of the Spellguard," the human replied. "As far as I know, an incident like this is unprecedented in the history of Silverymoon. I don't even recognize the species of your attacker."

"Neither do I" Astinius said before the poison started to try to kill him again. he doubled over, his body trying to fight off the poison

"The irony is... the wards meant to protect the city's population... in this case prevented me from escaping... I dont even want to think about how it got through..."

Astinius shuddered as the strength ebbed from him

"Gods... That hurt... Is there a place nearby I could get this poison neutralized?" he asked before continuing

"I should probably fill you, and your superiors in... do you think that would be possible?"

"There is a shrine to Oghma a couple of blocks south of here," he said. "And yes, we'll be very curious about whatever you can tell us about this creature."

"Hmmm," said Candirus. "Anyway, I must consult with my colleagues." The mage turned and walked towards an elf and a gnome who were approaching from another direction.

Astinius found the shrine easily enough. It was a simple building of white stone. Inside was a young man in a heavy robe who was copying a book as Astinius entered. The shrine was simple, little more than a long carpet facing a lectern shaped alter and desks at the side where a priest could study or copy scholarly works.

I can't imagine a devil-summoning cult's designs have anything beneficial in mind for Elturel or anywhere else," Gaheris said grimly. "My companions and I were attacked last night, before this morning's raid on the Abbey, by a group of street thugs and apparent members of this cult. We didn't manage to take any of them alive, but we did use magic to question the dead spirit of one of the cult operatives. The answers were, of course, sketchy, but we learned that our attackers were sent by one Zrem Hadar, called the Last of Nine and First among the Speakers, who we may find in Elturel. The Nine are apparently the Heralds of Mak Thuum Ngatha, and what they wanted in attacking us was us, specifically, at least according to the spirit. The names should at least give a starting point."

Torma was starting to get sulky. Malkamar hadn't taken the hint to let go of her mouth, and while drooling on him was an idea, acid tends to be a nasty thing to get on ones (supposed) friends.

And he was too far forward for a tail-sweep. Batting him with her wing might work....

The man rose up from his writing desk. "Please, sit down here," he said guiding the elf to a chair. "You are capable of making a donation to the temple?"

"Yes I am" Astinius replied while basically collapsing into the chair, too weak to tense his muscles and ease himself in.

The priest lit two insence sticks and began to pray. The weight fell away from Astinius's body as his strength returned.

"Thank you" Astinius said as he got up. He then proceeded to dig through his coin purse. He removed 75 platinum pieces and gave them to the cleric.

No... batting Malkamar upside the head with her wing would be Bad Form, and just make her look childish.

As if having her muzzle held shut didn't do the same. Ooooooooooooooooooo... she was going to get them back. Just wait. It would be her best prank ever.
