Badlands Justice Season One, Episode 2
Previously, on Badlands Justice
“It looks like rovers used the sandstorm cover their tracks. They made off with damn near everything in the bank. I’m doing all I can to keep things under control here in town, so I can’t go after them myself.â€

As I see it we have two options. First is to head to Oasis Tower as fast as possible. I barley rigged their vehical enough to make it there, hopfully, we might be able to catch them there.
Or two, we try and get ahead, get straight back to base. Then fix/upgrade the Longrunner, and use the other runnabout to do short range recon in the mean time.
Either way I really dont like the headstart we have given them. Or that we don't really know if they are heading for Westphalia.
No matter what though, I plan on turning each one of those ass holes into a fine mist.

"Alright, how long will it take to get the Longrunner all fixed up? I don't want them getting to far ahead." Jay asked.

Octavius, eager to throw in his one and a half cents... "Well Private Marcus says we go straight to oasis tower. Shouldn't they have the gear to fix our rig there? And we already know they may have dropped by. Hell, even if we get there late, the tower opperators could throw us a point.
Then again, I left most of my nades back at the base... *sighs* I really need my grenades... We should get back to the base and grab em. >.>
I would have more to say to yall, but the rest of the gang is busy trying to restrain that loud mouthed frenchy pilot what got stuck to me with the gear we dug up. He's a whiley sombitch. Except for the lieutenant... He still says I should put a frag under Jeff's pillow. Don't worry Jeff, I got him under control. :) He just won't quit talkin 'bout hurtin ya."
It seemed like Oct was actually doing quite well at the moment. He wasn't overly rantish about ghosts, and had managed to throw in some real input before going back to thoughts of his grenades.

The repairs and upgrades shouldn't take any longer then a day if I can get all my supplies. At the least it should only be a few hours to do all the nessisary repairs.

Vincent finished stowing his gear by sliding the folded surgical table into the slot it lived in on a shelf under his chair and sat back. It was probably going to be a very bumpy ride.

Jakob nodded. "Sounds solid. Hopefully we'll be able to catch up with them, but on the chance we can't, we'll need to commandeer a connection to the Hermes 72 network so I can contact my superiors. I'll be able to put out a general bulletin to the PRDF to hunt them down. Maybe if we're lucky they'll be able to spare a hopper, but don't count on it." The PaxSec agent eyed Octavius cautiously, most likely wondering how long he had been out in the midday sun.

"I am going to take this opportunity to look about on our way to the tower, I dont want anything to sneak up on us."
"I might just be able to see the bastereds if I get lucky." Davan mused to himself
Notice: (I think that is my total score for that.)

I'll keep an eye out too. And while I am at it, no reason to ride with our pants down... I will get "us" and my machine gun up on that pintle mount.

"Hold it with that gun, we don't need to look overly hostile rolling up to the tower. You can be ready with it, I just don't think we should be waiving around a bunch of fire power right now."
"I know that sounds a bit crazy considering all that is obvious with the longrunner, but lets try not to make people to twitchy"
"What do you guys think?"

The area surrounding the Longrunner was relatively peaceful. A small herd of Barnabies ambled along a few hundred meters to the southwest. The sun bore down on the Longrunner as the arid desert air stood almost perfectly still, providing no relief from the heat. Outside the Longrunner the temperature was a hostile 45 Celsius, causing the air to bend light coming through it, hampering visibility like a clear fog. It was still relatively early, and the temperature would rise as the day went along.

"I think I will resort to a less hostlie form of spotting, at least untill the majority of the heat has left the day."

Jay concenrated on driving letting them in the back figure out what they were going to do next... And as usual hoping Octativious didn't finially lose it all and pull the pin on his all to plentiful grenades. Eh, well Oct hadn't killed them yet.

The display for the sensors showed several faint contacts several kilometers away, but if they were hostiles or simply interference would be nearly impossible to know with current conditions. The Longrunner lurched forward into the scorching desert, starting the long trip back towards the Oasis Tower.
By nightfall the terrain begins to look familiar. While not close to the Oasis Tower, the cavernous mouth of the MacAllen Network strikes out from the shifting sands of the desert. All the traces of the previous night's camp have been blown away or covered by the desert.

The nearby cave system reports back with several echos, but nothing definate. Outside of that, nothing shows up on the sensors apart from some rock formations and a small herd of barnabies.
Jaxon looks out a window at the cave, his eyes narrowing. "You said you saw them coming out of the MacAllen Network, right? Is this the spot?" He slips on a dataglove and headset, getting ready to make some notes.

Yeah I think this around the area. They said they came out of the MacAllen network after they got chewed on by something big. I don't know what the hell could have done it, but it definatly did a number on their rig.
If I remeber correctly it is a little less then a days drive, at this rate anyway, from here to the tower.

"Well if something chewed apart their vehicle, I think we should keep a watch, just in case it decides it wants to go out to eat or any more of his team come out of the caves. That said, we should probably get some rest, I think it would be best to get started before the sun comes up. Do you have a spare bedroll I could use for the time being?" The agent didn't just look tired, he looked exhausted. Life with the BRF had clearly not been kind to him.

I am sure we have one around here somewhere. Where do you want us to park the rig for the night?

"Somewhere with a good field of fire covering the cave, but not too close. I don't want to get jumped by any of the smugglers or the wildlife."

We can park about a quarter mile away (400m). That should give us good all around fire coverage.

"Do you want to check out the cave or just bypass it for now?" Jay asked. Driving out as directed.
