"So humans do have mental defenses? Can it be taught? Hmmm... Could you teach it to him or would it be to dangerous?" Blast asked still walking around the pool.

[LadyTevar]

"I wouldn't know where to start..." she answered truthfully.

A part of her mind pointed out to her how mature Blast was becoming. She'd known him barely six months, yet he'd grown so much. A slight smile crossed her face. "Blackheart was right about you, it seems..."

[Cynical Cat]

Blackheart breached the surface of the waves and sucked in a huge lungful of air. Gravitas had the right idea, but he wanted to track the wrong resource. Their was one thing critical to the black operations that couldn't be hidden from the resources Blackheart possessed. He began to swim back to shore, taking powerful strokes.

"Okay, so you don't know where to start, you're self taught right? Maybe Grav would know what to do. Or barring that maybe Blackheart and him know a trustworthy telepathy who can help..." Blast said ignoring the Blackheart comment. It made him uncomfortable, he was just doing what needed to be done to keep everyone safe as he could. Besides it wasn't like Blackheart was going anywhere. They weren't gonna need a replacement anytime soon. Blackheart is fine, nothing wrong there. He is.

"it was meant in a good way, Tobin," Li Na said, sensing his sudden worry. "You have grown a lot in the last few months." maybe more than any of us

"Gravitas would be the best bet. I think Hotfoot wants to go play with his new toy... Should I take him and Alexander someplace they can practice safely?"

[frigidmagi]

"Sounds good, if you know a place they won't attract attention. Yeah go ahead and do it. I'll go chat with Grav about this and see what he can do." Blast said.

[Cynical Cat]

Blackheart walked up the beach, shoes squelching with every step. He ignored the baffled looks being aimed in his direction by the few people on that were theres. That he had fried his brains on drugs was a far more likely conclusion for onlookers to make than he was a meta. He started the long walk back to Argent's house.

It was at least a hour after he parted ways with Argent, maybe even longer, before he sought out Ghost. Still dressed in the costume from Vegas, like it was a second skin so comfortable he was, he approached Dan's quarters, and rang the door chime.

[Agent Fisher]

He opened the door. The helmet was off, set on the desk. Ghost nodded. "Garth. How did the talk go?" He asked, stepping aside so Garth could enter if he wanted too.

Garth stepped in and looked around the quarters, the visor sliding back to reveal his face encircled by the rest of the helmet.

"It's Argent...how do you think it went?" he said, clasping his hands behind his back. "Mirage Team wants to talk to you...apparently your a suspect in the Metakiller deaths in Millennium City. Apparently Blackheart thinks so anyway. Argent didn't say so, but we know Blackheart."

Saibot shook his head, "We shouldn't have helped in Vegas. We knew the media would show up, we'd be splashed on the air waves...and they would get wind of it..." the way he kept saying 'we'; didn't give the impression Saibot was including Ghost in it, "And we should have known Argent would teleport to find you...."

Garth almost seemed angry at these facts, "I should have made getting you a psi-blocker first priority. We're compromised now...if Blackheart decides he wants to come in tear us apart, there's nothing we can do to stop it short of killing them..."

He shook his head, the anger drifting from his face, as he looked at Ghost, "Argent says to call her for pick up when your ready to talk....if you want to back out now, I won't hold it against you. I made sure they couldn't trace Gazer's death to you in MC, they got no proof of that, only supposition. You can go back a free man, and return to being a spook. but I'm going to have to disappear again soon..."

[Agent Fisher]

Ghost looked at Garth. The way he was talking about Vegas was odd, like he was using the royal we, not the group we. Definitely something off about his new partner. "So, they want to talk. Hmm. Ok. Let me get far enough away from the base, then I'll call for her."

[Dark Silver]

Garth watched Dan, before shaking his head, "No Dan....if Blackheart decides to get violent, I'd be giving you to the lambs for slaughter. I told Argent they found my remains in the shuttle remains, a internal Ultima report, but I doubt Blackheart will buy it. He'll make the connection between me, and a resurrected Guardian Force, along with the shuttle going boom. Your working with what they assume is them, and demands to be brought in to met your superiors...."

Garth shook his head

With Overwatch, you have enough collective power to eliminate the interlopers...crush them beneath your foot Garth.... They would bother you no more, leave us free to persue our Holy Work.....

Garth shook his head, the image of Saibot flashed in his mind, the figure seemed somehow darker, then it disappeared.

"Ask Argent to met you alone...give her back the cover story...let's hope she believes you. I don't think she bought it from me, even though she wants to believe I'm dead..."

[Agent Fisher]

Ghost nodded. "Alright then. Any suggestions as to where I should meet her?" He asked, taking his helmet off the table and just turning it in his hand.

[Dark Silver]

"Where ever you want it to be.....as long as it's not here....middle of the desert maybe. There's some bluffs and canyons about a hour's flight at max speed northwest of here. Will give her some place to teleport in, and you'll be able to maneuver if they try to attack you."

[Agent Fisher]

Ghost nodded, looking at the helmet. "Think I should go right now?" He asks, looking up at Garth.

[Dark Silver]

"Up to you....she said sometime in the next day or so. I'll let you decide that. Just warning you...if you decide to bring her back here...she won't be able to teleport out. Call ahead if you do decide to bring her here..."

With that, Garth walked out, his head hanging a bit, "I'm going try to get some sleep....today took it out of me..." He disappeared down the hall.

Ghost nodded. He cradled the helmet and headed out of the base. He slipped it own, locking it in place. A compass popped up and Ghost's body glowed, he took to the air, heading for the bluffs. An hour or so later, he arrived. He set down and sat in the shade of a rock, taking off his helmet.

"Ok, now how to get her alone." He asked outloud. He focused and tried sedning feelings of loneliness and need towards Argent.

[Cynical Cat]

Blackheart walked into the house, wet but no longer dripping. He went up to his room, changed clothes, and came back down. "I have an idea," he said.

[SirNitram]

Gravitas looked up. "Well, good, because apparently mine was worthless. What's the idea, and what's needed?"

[Cynical Cat]

"We can't trace the money. Black operations are too good at hiding it. We can trace the people. Vat grown superhumans are a rare commodity and they are made by the best and the brightest. All the big names in the field are spoke for, they have their own projects with the big boys. These guys have to be mostly using Young Turk and ex-East Blockers. Now there aren't that many ex-East Blockers around and these projects require a lot of lead time. Years of work to get off the ground. One place I do have contacts and do no names is the Hero Makers, since enough of them scratched their heads trying to figure out what and my bosses ran the Monster Factory. These guys can be found and whatever lies they tell about their jobs and whatever code names their projects have and how often the money is washed, they still have physical addresses. We can track the projects through the scientists that are essential to it."

[LadyTevar]

The message was getting through, as Argent felt the emotions from Ghost clearly. "Blast? I think Ghost's ready to talk," she said softly. "I better tell Blackheart where I'm going, since he's back." She sent a simple message back down the link to Ghost, a brief burst of *Happy*.


She walked inside the house, saying nothing as she noted Blackheart's wet hair and change of clothes. "Blakcheart? I think Ghost's wanting to talk. Do you want me to scout the site first?"

[Cynical Cat]

"Sort of. I want you to drop us off a couple of klicks from it so Gravitas and Hotfoot can get back up there real fast in case Ghost goes hinky on us or Saibot decides to give you new abdomenal scars."

[LadyTevar]

She had to shake her head. "I wish I could, believe me, but I have to have been to that site first, Blackheart. Inside a building is one thing, as it's all enclosed and connected by shadows. A big flat desert is another."

[Cynical Cat]

"Then shadow there, stay shadowy, jump to one a couple of klicks away, grab us, bring us to the distant one, and go back and to the one near him."

"I don't believe her power works like that. But if I can maintain a solid link with her, I can open a wormhole to a spot a few thousand feet above the position." Gravitas pointed out.
