The Glitch IV - Inversion (Ch. 1)

Albert, ironically, wasn't even slightly disturbed by the sounds. This is because he's fast asleep, unrousable. He's just that heavy a sleeper.

In the blessed darkness, half between Jack and Aurora, he stood motionless, silent. He watched them all, they couldnt sleep, the sounds of battle reached even here.

His own patrol, the search party he lead for them. The outsiders had found them, engaged them. His null could deal with them. He had decided to move on, he could sense where they were. So close, yet so distant.

His eyes focused on her, her hands playing with something. Thanks to the warmth and buzzing in his head, he knew what she toyed with.

He seemed to blinks out of exsistence, before he was across the clearing, on the very edge of the firelight, right behind her.

So close.....so close...

"You really wish you would stop buzzing me like that Leah....." he said softly, stepping from the shadows behind her, the hood pulled back, revealing the weathered face and long salt and pepper hair of Darek.

Jack was facing the wrong way when Darek appeared. He was looking outward, not towards the camp.

"LEAH!"

Rory screamed as she jumped from the tree. She was just a few feet behind him, she took out her sword. Not that she knew exactly how to use it but... she could act like she did. Then he removed his hood.


"...........Darek?"


They had met, once. Leandra had insisted that she wasn't smittin, but Sivri had known better, and couldn't blame her. She just gaped at the man, he looked the same but all too different.

Jack heard the scream. He spun, his sword coming up and his left hand grabbing for the shield on his back. He saw the man.

His shield came into his left hand, and he brought it up in the same style he had seen his character use. He started moving forward, slowly.

Leah's head jerked up, twisting around to see if it was really him, even before Rory screamed in warning.

She rose to her feet, her eyes roaming his face, his form, as if not quite believing he's really there. She stepped closer, one hand lifting to touch his face ((if he lets her)), not noticing Jack/Decimus in the background. She wanted to say something witty. She wanted to yell at him for missing their date. She wanted to embrace him.

"What ... what happened?" is what she managed to say. "How did you get trapped here? What did they do to you?" How do I fix this? How do we get everyone out safe? "... I missed you..."

The scream stirred the half giant. On some instinct he never had before, he already had his greathammer in his hands as he sat up, spotting Darek. He paused, unsure what was going on.

What did Auron say? They're trapping people here and possessing them...

Ted heard someone yelling arround him but it didn't fully register he pulled an arm over his head and curled up into a smaller ball and went back to sleep...

Elwyn awoke instantly and was on his feet staff in hand. He notied the necromancer asleep and gave him a good thwack to get him awake.

"Leah, he is not Dereck anymore. Merely an electronic deaemon who has taken control of his body. Remember what Auron said, they are trapping people here and posessing them"

Ted responded to the prodding with a grumble and mumbling something to the gist of “No mom I don’t wanna feed bacon to grandma when she is in the bath tub.â€

"Then why is he talking and not attacking?" was Leah's simple answer, her hopeful, trusting eyes never leaving Darek's face. She didn't even realize she was stepping closer, giving in to the impulse to embrace him (if he lets her)

"To trick you, remember the Dark Riders, remember who one of them was. Do not be decieved, or you wil get yourself and the rest of us killed, and everything we love in the real world will be destroyed"

Leah pauses at Elwyn's protest, her eyes dropping, before looking back up at Darek with a smile that shared a joke between them. "Elwyn... I kinda like bringing cute men back from the dead."

It was a joke that had started the day she and Darek had met, one that she enjoyed teasing him with during intimate moments.

Rory slowly moved foreward. She knew that there was no was of protecting everyone should Derek decide to attack. But she could protect her friend Leah. She was standing next to her now, in front of Derek. She could feel how badly Leah wanted to embrace him, all of her feelings we're on display for everyone to see. She touched Le's arm, not as a way of restraining her but as a form of support.

She looked at Derek, "What do you want? Haven't you caused her enough pain? You're not Derek anymore... We all know that. But obviously there is something left of him, keeping them hanging on. Is there a way to bring him back? If not then you have no business here. I'm sure we'll meet again. You're Bitch Mistress will make sure of it."

Rory paused, she was being too bold, Sivri's personaility was shining through. Unfortunately she didn't know what to do with it.

Jack was mentally cussing up a storm.

Jack kept advancing forward. As he passed Matthew, he kicked him, to wake him up.

Albert had been quietly watching. He had no clue what to make of Darek's appearance, but something deep in him.. Perhaps it was Thog himself.. Made him clutch his hammer tighter. He remembered what had happened.

Matthew had been watching the whole occurance as it happened. Staying small, out of the way. That was a black rider. If he wanted to he could slaughter every one in this camp.

"He could have killed all of us if he wanted to. Just like Auron. But he didn't just like Auron. Frankly, I trust Auron as much as I trust him." He left out that he trusted the lot of them only slightly more. Matthew watched Derek, he continued to lay on the ground though, his hands near neither his sword nor his shield. "It is best if we don't antagonize him into killing us. After all, if we're here, how do we know death isn't very, very, permanent?"

Darek seemed to sigh, his shoulder rising up, then lowering almost as if exasperated. When Leah tried to touch him, he took a single step back, shaking his head slowly. The smile on his lips didnt touch his eyes, though he looked no worse for wear, no outward appearence of a change.

"For furture reference, the whole lot of you are absolutly fucking nutters. Ok, so Thog was already nuts, but we all knew that."

He looked around at the people gathered, he knew them, each and every one, though they may not have known him. They were hand picked by his superiors, more than likely because he would be familiar, at least in passing with them, prior to his turning.

"So let's start answering questions first things first...." he mulled over Leah's questions, before giving her a soft smile, "We'll come back to those later dear. The Druid's first..if I was some electronic demon who possessed this body, would I be having friendly discourse with you? Or would I have come in weapons raised, and mercilessly slaughtered every one of you while you slept? I think my actions are proof enough. Besides, who is this Auron that you would listen to him instead of me?"

The large body of the man seemed to shift slightly, the cloak settled around him, obscuring his black armor and weapons, "Besides.....if I really wanted to kill any of you, I would have. And I will be very blunt....none of you could stop me."

When Sivri stepped between Leah and Darek, the man merely smiled. "If you wish me gone, then very well...I will go."

The smile was cold, without warmth or mirth, as he inclined his head, and began to step back, not the rustle of cloth or the clink of metal from his armored feet, as he slide back towards the darkness.

For a moment, his face remained calm, then his eyed widdened, as he looked beyond the group. The sound was sharp in thew sudden quiet, the sound of a metal locking into place, a gun brought to bear, and the crack of weapon fire, as the long colt let rip with four shots, which sounded like one.

The Dark Rider disappeared before the bullets reached him, and the gunman stood alone, his red duster touching billowing ever so slightly. His blonde hair done in a mohawk like spike, his eyes glowed brillant yellow, like the devil itself.

His gun smoked, and he watched the spot Darek disappeared to.

[Agent Fisher]

Jack whirled towards the gunfire.

If this guy is friendly, I'm going to be begging for a gun.

Ted scratched his head, "VASH???" he thought to himself, this was just getting psychotic now, he decided to stay ready incase this new individual was not quite the savior he thought he was. Though, Theodore was not sure what exactly he would do uncertan of exactly how to cast his spells.

Matthew looked from his sprawled position over towards the gunman. "Yeah. He makes me feel safe. Now he's no doubt going to tell us how he's one of the good guys and that was one of the bad guys."

"DAREK!" Leah screamed, fearful for him, before whirling to glare at all of them. "He wasn't hurting us! He wanted to talk to me! Don't you understand that?!" Her eyes wild, she suddenly dropped to her knees, scrabbling in the grass, before clutching a contactstone triumphantly in her hand. "Darek... I'm not giving up on your, dammit... You'd not give up on me."

Again, she glared at everyone around her, before scrambling to her feet and running away from the firelight.

[Rukia]

"Damn it Leah! Don't run run off! It's not safe!"

She ran after Leah.

Elwyn bolted after her as fast as his nature-wary legs could carry him. When he finally caught up to her, he grabbed her by the shoulder, and forced her to a stop.

"Leah, the Dereck you knew and loved is dead, if we can bring him back, we will have to kill his dread mistress first. Until then, he is enthralled to her and nothing you do can bring him back. Do you understand me? They are trying to divide us, throw us off guard, we cant let that happen"

he stared into her her eyes with the utmost sincerity

"We cant take that risk right now"

[Charon]

Matthew sighed and tried to go back to sleep as the cleric ran off. "Darek was right. You're all insane."

Matthew began to drift off into sleep again. Coming to the complete and full realization that no matter what you do, if you were wanted dead you would die had a way of taking a lot of stress off.
