Oh dear... is Nalifan actually starting to worry about his new student's abilities? My my... he always does pick the dangerous playmates.

There's more to this than just 'I need to find a present'. Sunni's up to something, I just know it.

"You get far too much enjoyment out of the simple things, Nal.""Good. Enough moping over might have beens. Let's enjoy the wedding so Elvarra can continue glaring daggers at you and I can dream up some truly extortionistic demands for the Elven Court to choke on."

So in order to break this line of Tev comments.
I think she should just get to it and say it. Not to mention she should have mentioned the Elf court's willingness to pay him to stop looting Myth Drannor first not the "but it's our irreplaceable elfy hertiage!" thingy. Course if they really had treasure to burn, they should have asked about buying back some of the goodies. That should only take what? 5.7 McDuck Moneybins of money and magic?

Can I get your reasons for this frigid? Because normally one tends to err on the side of the former sex slave when it comes to privacy, not her rapist.

You know, I missed that part, so yeah it would be best not to tell him. But if she's not going to tell him she better damn well stop dropping hints that's gonna make him feel like he needs to start checking things. Not to mention Kaeryn gave her word not to tell him.
The comment was ill thought out, I will attempt to better convey what I was thinking.an I get your reasons for this frigid? Because normally one tends to err on the side of the former sex slave when it comes to privacy, not her rapist
Making dance around the bush comments with a arch mage like Nal in this situation is like thwacking a unstable nuclear bomb. Odds are nothing is going to happen, but why on earth would you take the risk in the first place? If you're going to keep your mouth shut (which given the promise this apprantely sloppy magi completely missed is what should happen) keep your damn mouth shut. Don't ask leading questions, don't subtly imply things and for the Love of God don't get him thinking on his past. So when dealing with something and someone like this you either weld your mouth shut on the topic and don't refer to it even by the vaguest of means or you straight out say it and get the cards on the table for bargaining/fighting/whatever the fuck.
She's just luckly that the mage is completely distracted with the wedding and the new toy/apprentice that he won't likely think about that... For Now. Who can say what he'll start thinking when the distractions die now and he starts going "Hey, the High Priestess was acting just a tad weird... Maybe I should dig around."
I think the last thing anyone in the story wants is Nal thrashing around for answers when there are so many breakable things around. You know, his ex-victim, the locals, any near by cities or mountains...
Right now the hint dropping is the worse of all worlds.
Does that help?

Yes, it does. Of course, the other thing about his past which Kaeryn might ask him if he regrets is torpedoing their relationship and burning down half of Westgate. She does have "cover" on this issue.

I am not sure it is a good idea to rely on any cover in this kinda thing. Well hopefully it should work out.

Mystra knows Kaeryn's got regrets on that one... *sigh*
But the fact that children were passing by when she asked the question was mere coincidence, and no reason for Nal to be suspicious.
I would like to see more sly interplay between the former and current lovers, btw. Kaeryn would admit without hesitation that the drow princess was better suited to Nalifan ... but for his heresy. Mystra finds him amusing.

I've a feeling that Nalifan is gonna be pretty pissed off whenever he finds out about his daughter and remembers this exchange.
Just of curiosity, what would be his reaction if he found out now? Take his daughter with him to the manor, leave her with her mother, or hide her far, far away?

Nicely said, Nalifan... now go save her before she's Beholder-chow.
Although, An amusing idea would be for Kaeryn to save her

That was actually a very smart move to get out of the Beholder's cone. I doubt many could do that.
So, shit is meeting fan. How long til the next chapter?

Heh... and after I sent you that long list of typos, you still missed a few.

Single words without even the surrounding sentence. Are you trying to be useless and annoying or are you naturally gifted in this area?LadyTevar wrote:Heh... and after I sent you that long list of typos, you still missed a few.

Since you asked, may I point you the very first sentence of the Chapter: "its casing removed and its internals spread", to show you where the typos are. I see you've found the other and corrected it.

Single context words don't fucking help at all and if you had a god damn brain you would know that. I've told you before that this shit is useless.Lady T wrote: I see you woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.
Not a typo. Possessive "its" is correct. "It's" is a contraction for "it is". Not only does context help you find the alleged typo, it can actually determine if the typo actually exists.Since you asked, may I point you the very first sentence of the Chapter: "its casing removed and its internals spread", to show you where the typos are.
