Sober thoughts: Okay this makes the bad guys look, thoughtful and effective. It makes them scarier, the King of Tribes doesn't murder a dude for telling him what he doesn't want to hear. He comes up with a plan to address the problem and applies an apporiate amount of resources to make it work. He also knows to avoid mirco managing. This makes him more effective then a number of bosses I've had, which is a sad thing to say about a cannibal slaving scourge of God. +10pts!
Stray thoughts, how do they avoid the health problems of cannibalism? They seem to do an awful alot of it. Do their clerics just have the ability to magic that all away?
I've decided not to talk shit about the pikemen's unfortune inability to make his kill stick. A good professional does not fault a man for things outside of his control and this stinks of magic-god-cheating-bullshit. Which sucks because that unknown soldier earned his kill fair and square. Such is the nature of war.
Also, if I had an enemy like the King of Tribes leading the Republican Guard, killing him would become my list of things to do. It's not on top of my list, it's not on my list. It is my list. Anything else suggests that there something else of compariable importance to making that thing extinct. I hope Naf can figure that out. Yeah the enemy wizards are dangerous, but it's the King of Tribes leadership that's making them the end of the fucking world for everyone. He needs to die, yesterday. The wizards to of course.

Health problems from cannibalism are for weaklings who don't prepare their meals with black magic so that they really do gain some of their victim's strength. Khaduli Cataphracts can hack through plate armour with mundane sabers. And I do mean hack through.frigidmagi wrote:

Yep, the King of Tribe is not just strong, he's intelligent and far-thinking. Killing his prime wizard for underestimating an opponent is for chaotic ravening madmen. The King, and his chieftans, did not get where they are by being stupid, nor by being the type to kill the messenger.

Krazad is the dude who dropped a proto-demon prince on Nalifan. He's the one guy who didn't underestimate him.LadyTevar wrote: Killing his prime wizard for underestimating an opponent is for chaotic ravening madmen.

Ack! I missed the update!
Well moving on, I'm surprised Handren just flat out asked Nal if Nal was trying to kill him. Honestly in Handren's position I wouldn't expect the guy plotting my death to admit to it. That said I don't think Nal was lying to him either.
I also find Nal's lack of drow racism rather interesting. The way he talks to Handren is rather devoid of any looking down on anyone due to their race. Of course it may be partly because Nalifan is just to damn egoistical in his own way to be racist. I believe his view to be something along the lines of "My race is incidiental to my mind blowing awesomeness. I am so damn amazing that I don't need the pettiness of racism to be above you. I am just that amazing."
Given that he's a magic user who has gone toe to toe with divine level beings and walked away a winner... I'm willing to cede him some space for his ego. His performance in this little war isn't hurting his case either.

Different Directive: Short, blunt and to the point. Klingon speeches as always are a joy to hear. The captain gives in one speech a more rounded and deeper view of Klingon life then hours of the Klingons on the TV show. It is also something to say that this planet is better off with the Klingons as their first contact then they would be with the Federation, or really many others.
Nal: I really like the realm of cats and how inhuman it is. I also like how all the cats have grandoise names and titles, as I imagine cats would if they could name themselves. It's always fun to see the Beastlands, a tragically underused part of the Planarspace.

Different Directive: I echo Frigid here; that is a fantastic speech on what are Klingons. I applaud you.
Of course, as you said in the last sentence, there are fools. I'm expecting the Religious to be offended and cause a fuss.
Nalifan: Ooo.. I love the Beastlands. The Grand Duchess gave me chills.

Really? The Grand Duchess is a cute little tabby cat, albeit a heavy hitter magically. The Margrave, on the other hand, is a two ton blood red tiger from the Khan of Tiger's court (the dude has an awesome yurt. Bigger on the inside than the outside, of course).LadyTevar wrote: Nalifan: Ooo.. I love the Beastlands. The Grand Duchess gave me chills.

Uh... you might wanna look at how you posted that then, because it seemed like the TIGER was the one talking.
NM, my goof. I misread "the cat" to be a reference to the Tiger. My bad. Still... The Margrave is scary, the Duchess refined.

So, who do I have to assassinate to get a cameo in this story?

Blackjack's patron, of course. Really, you're far too trusting for a cyberpunk game turned up to 11.Lys wrote:So, who do I have to assassinate to get a cameo in this story?
But seriously, I'll do it.

The term is post-cyberpunk, and I know I'm not cut out for the espionage game. That's why my espionage related characters tend to be flawed in some way. I think it's important that a character's behavior makes sense in the context of her personal history, and character flaws are a good way to do this. In Blackjack's case, she was always meant to be a playing piece, not a player. She knows this, and to some extent she resents it, but to fight against it is to fight her own nature. Note that she's much better about opsec when interacting with everyone other than her handler.Cynical Cat wrote:Blackjack's patron, of course. You will!? Yaaaaay! ^_^But seriously, I'll do it.
Though, I meant a cameo for Ishtar Charvanek. She's way better at the plots and politics thing than me.
