Man finding out you're trapped on a ship with the inquistion must be a disconcerting. Especailly to someone from a class of people generally considered somewhat expendable.

...
...

But now that I think of it, I can't think of a class of people that isn't considered somewhat expendable in the Imperialium

She's doing the right thing. When you get insurgents like this you have to kill a bunch of them to keep from thinking doing this on a regular basis is a good idea. Course the problem is you'll only kill the stupid brave ones. The good news is there's usually more stupid brave insurgents then any other kind.

Now that is interesting. I think little bird wants his own mercenaries, completely deniable and everything.

Ah, now that's interesting. Will be interesting to see where fate leads our old Jaggie ristar.

....granted, it also reminds me that I inevitably drop every effort I've made at writing major BattleTech stories, and that the closest I've come to a non-crossover BTech story still involved a 21st Century Earth getting throw into the mix.

Anyway, will be interested to see updates.

Since there's no risk of pregnancy, next to no risk of disease, no religious taboos, and no long term pair bonding; yes the Clan Trueborn Warrior Caste is very casual about sex.
It's not that I'm unforgiving, it's that most of the people who wrong me are unrepentant assholes.

Not just the trueborn warriors, going by sourcebooks. Sex is very casual in almost all Clan society, although official pairing for procreation is tightly controlled (and nobody is a parent anyway, unless you're a Ghost Bear Clan).

Also, for trueborn Clanners? No incest taboo either. Case in point: Aiden Pryde. (Ranna and Vlad were different bloodhouses so they don't count).

Y'know, given I'm playing Dragon Age: Inquisition ATM, and the extra material we find out about the Qunari in it... it is sort of weird how similar the Clans are to the Qunari on the subject. Different focuses of course; the Clans are preoccupied with genetic improvement, the Qunari wityh fitting in the role assigned.

Man, Aldon is fucking gleeful at this. Although I can see why, I would be damn pleased if I got to kill the idiot PFC to. Especially the idiot PFC who keeps trying to take my job.

"Don't piss off the nice god," he hissed.
Something a lot of high-level adventurers forget. At least the CatLord isn't totally pissed off at Nalifan. Just annoyed enough that it will take a lot of favors to make up for it.

I have to say that I'm glad you're back to writing again :) This and the Dresden/SG1 novel on SDnet both updated, which is a real treat  Hopefully, it won't be two years before the next update.

I had wondered if the Tribes were always cannibals. An interesting look at what they've all lost, and at a man who was smarter than his fellows.

Still, they're almost right about Nalifan. He is Chief Black Magic, with at least a century of experience. The difference is he didn't stop there.

Personally I'm interested to see what becomes of Nalifan's investigation of the king's death. Surely discerning the difference between a Khaduli arrow and the magic of Baator is trivial for him; the only question is what he does with the information and/or to Prince Asshole.

Also if it still holds your interest, I'd like to see a continuation of Crucible at some point. The direction you seemed to be going with the Blood Tigers was fascinating.

I like the Uncle he's snarky. Plus it makes these people seem more real that there are some dissenters among them. Also the conservation gives us the sense that there are real cultures that have been wiped from the planet by these people. Which gives greater depth to the story and adds to the stakes. The hints about where the King of the Tribes came from are very interesting as well, I can of piece together the story I think.

I also enjoyed the god of cats appearing. He was very much a cat and that was fun to read.
