Author's Note: I was originally planning for Marieta to be the one who wasn't captured, but I couldn't come up with a reason why they wouldn't cut out Sebastian's tongue so they switched places.

I can understand why you did that. Wizards are more dangerous, they'd not take a chance on him spellcasting.
The question is, how will they get out of this, and will it be before they have a 'turn at the woman'.

Ah.. good, Marieta got away. Now to see if Sebastian can escape the dogs.
As for Nal & Co, once again a great job, if a little short. Very nice venom from Nalifan about the fate of the losers in the Crown Wars.

Well that's fine and dandy for the Crown Wars, but he's not on Toril. The drow are ubiquitous across the multiverse, and the dark elves didn't fall the same way on every world.

No shit. That's Nal's point. Here, drow were a rare occurence, an individualized punishment for elves whose crimes merited exile. Thus Arinyaniquis sees a drow and he's not seeing a member of a race, but a convicted criminal. Nalifan is amused because Arinyaniquis hasn't considered the possibility the curse would be so badly misused as it was during the Crown Wars and the consequences of such behavior. Its the difference between trusting a man convicted criminal and the descendent of criminals. . . . like say an Australian.Rogue 9 wrote:Well that's fine and dandy for the Crown Wars, but he's not on Toril. Okay, so he's mocking an elf that not only personally had nothing to do with it, but whose ancestors into perpetuity had nothing to do with it, why?
And it occurs to me that drow on a world where the curse was an individualized punishment wouldn't be the badasses that drow from Toril or Oerth are, due to the fact that an individual case wouldn't be subjected to generations of selective breeding to improve the stock.

He's mocking him for not considering the possibility that the curse be used in an unjust manner. He's mocking his naivete paladin boy.
Drow in this world didn't breed much. A handful of cursed every millenium isn't enough. And if the elf in question was particular dangerous, he wouldn't be getting off with exile to go wreck evil. Most died alone after trying to eek out an existence in the wilderness.

Re: Shadow War.
Yes, I've found another typo to tease you about :) Otherwise, the story is still as compelling a read as ever. The tattooed man saw her coming his eyes narrowed. He wore a white padded tunic and pants with blue piping. A sword and a blaster pistol hung from a belt. "I would like some assistance," assistance.

Re: Naked Stars
Damn.... How long did that battle actually take? Two minutes? If that? Quick, brutally efficient, and so very telling of how badly-constructed Federation ships are.

Star Trek battles don't take long, unless they have a problem targeting each other. The Nebula took several heavy hits that weakened its shields and then had a top of the line battlecruiser hit it with its main batteries and torpedoes at point blank range. That's a hell of a beating. Compare that with how quickly the Defiant or the Enterprise can dispatch foes.

I noticed you mentioned the Klingons had Disruptor banks. What's the difference between disruptors and phasers?

Reason #1 to always have a cleric/healer on hand."Amazing guess. Are you a telepath or something?" Nalifan joked. "That's for the future. Right now I need to get Mikos to set my damn leg. I hate having broken bones."
Great story, I burst out laughing from the intro. I'm glad that you've not forgotten Nal & Co. with all the other stories you've been writing.

Necessary Acts:
Yes, Fire + Powderhorn= Kablooie. Possibly enough to be heard for some distance.
Another great update. Once again, you amaze me with your talent.

You know... at some point Maladar's wife is going to try to seduce him, just because he is her husband and it is her 'duty'.
And out of that same curiousity birthed from Pandora and Psyche's urge to find out what's being hidden from her.

On Naked Stars.
What makes the grass grow?
Blood! Blood! Blood!
Devil Dog, shock troops, Kill!
Since Starfleet has not seen fit to sweat in peace, I demand they be made to bleed (more) in war.

It's not the screaming firefight I had hoped for, but it still makes perfect sense. Good Job.

Where to start... The firefight is being well done. I love the Klingon Engineer, the continent is still here hehehehehe!
And a good example of how one canny, sneaky captain can defeat more numerous oppotents.
You burnned Janeway alive, *plays dingdong the witch is dead* Nice!
