#1 Christmas cookies

Post by The Minx »

So I decided to make some Christmas cookies, and they worked out very nice.

Here's the recipe:

One and a half (1.5) cups syrup. Heated to the boil, then allowed to cool till lukewarm.

Add the following:

One and three-quarters (1.75) pounds flour.
Half (0.5) a pound of sugar.
Three and a half (3.5) ounces butter (soft, half-melted).
Three and a half (3.5) fluid ounces cream.
Two (2) egg yolks.
Four (4) teaspoons ginger.
Two and a half (2.5) teaspoons baking soda.

(You'll need the egg whites for later.)

Knead the dough and sift flour onto the table, then roll it out to a thickness of 1/10 inch.

Use cookie cutters to cut them out, then place them on an oven plate with baking paper on it.

Bake in a pre-heated oven at 350°F for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown.

Frosting!

Half (0.5) a pound icing sugar.
Two (2) egg whites.
Two (2) teaspoons vinegar.
It adds character to put in a few drops food coloring in it too.

Stir well, and apply.

Actually, I had to make a double portion of the frosting, but that's OK.

I used plastic bags with a tiny hole cut out of a corner to squirt the outlines on them.
