Nitram had his out-patient surgery today, and we just got home. Devonie came down to sit with me and keep us both sane, for which we owe her our eternal gratitude.
The doctor simply stabbed Nitram's abdominal cavity with a large needle, then inserted a catheter(sp). Over the next 45 minutes, they drained five (5) full liters out of his abdominal area. It's lowered the swelling, and he's now resting comfortably on the futon.
He's going to be on Diaretics for the next month, and is supposed to record his weight daily. The doctor wants to see him around the first of next month. Now, we just sit back and wait for the results of the various tests they're going to run on the fluid they drained off.
Thank you, everyone, for your prayers and best wishes. Now it's just a matter of preventing this from happening again.
