#1 Worst Sequel(s) Ever?

Post by The Grim Squeaker »

What are The Worst ever sequels? Either Objectively bad sequels (Utter crap regardless of it's predecessor) or Subjectively bad sequels (Might be decent, but is utter drivel compared to it's predecessor). Movies, books, TV series & Seasons etc'

My Picks for Subjectively bad:

Books:
  • The first book of the second Dune prequel trilogy, and very arguably the first prequel trilogy (I liked it, but it's certainly a far cry from Dune).
  • The latter Redwall books (Excluding "Lord Brocktree") also known as "Food description, riddles for plot device+Sword, evil vermin horde, repeat ad infinitum".
  • Artemis Fowl:Opal Deception - Great series, crap book and they killed of Root! .
  • James Clavell - Whirlwind -Boring, slow and un-engrossing. A far cry from King rat, Tai-Pan, Shogun...

TV Series: No idea, although the final episodes of NGE sucked donkey balls (And yes, I have read the Freudian explanations. It still sucked). That 70's show - At some point, they just lost it, and then they did another 4 seasons of it :P.

    Movies:
  • SW EP2 - I liked the PT, and the OT is hardly a work of art, but the Romance parts make my eyes bleed :P.
  • The Matrix:Reloaded - From stylistic fun to overdone shit (I don't rate this as objectively crap due to the awesome action scenes and Car chase).
  • ST:Generations. Kirk, bridge, Klingon's through Skull-eye! Need I say more?

    Objectively awful:

    Books:
  • The Second Dune Prequel trilogy - ... . It made my eyes bleed, and I'm not sure whether I deserve a medal or Euthanasia for finishing the last of the lot. Fortunately, I was wise enough to escape:
  • Dune 7. Dune 8. Only Read the booksif you don't mind having your memories raped, dismembered then assaulted frequently with a shovel. (Frank isn't just spinning in his grave, he's drawn Tolkien into low orbit through the gravity field generated).

    Movies:
  • The Matrix Revolutions - I liked the Super-brawl scene and the Seraph fights, as well as the view of the sun. The rest, I did not like, no sir.
  • The Alien/s Sequels (3,4).

Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much: the wheel, New York, wars while all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in water having a good time.
But the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man for precisely the same reasons
