But did it happen in their Most Populous City, not 4 miles from the State Capitol, and only 5 blocks from the City Hall?

Alaska has bear problems everywhere. Moose too.

That picture looks fake. Not because of the moose (it looks too large but that may simply be a matter of perspective), but because of the airplane.
Upwards of the engine intake that F-16 simply looks more hazy than the rest of the picture. I don't know if that's because of the paint job or me simply imagining things but that's what it looks like to me.

This photo was taken at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska around 2003. The large critter is a moose, and the F-16 in the picture ain't going anywhere until the moose decides to leave. The Eielson base and the surrounding area is home to over 500 moose. After September 11, 2001, the usual hunting activity (to keep the moose population down) was curtailed when the base was closed to civilians. But this policy was soon changed to allow the hunters to go in and keep the moose population under control. Since there are not enough local wolves (fewer than a dozen) to keep the moose population down, without the hunters, many moose would starve over the long Winters because of a lack of sufficient food for a larger herd.

You understood me mis. I very much assumed the picture to be real (else I wouldn't have commented on the moose looking too big likely being a perspective problem). I just found it amusing that in that picture, were it fake, the OBVIOUS fake element would be the moose, yet it's the AIRPLANE that looks so (when the background is a good indicator that this is indeed an airbase so the presence of the aircraft would be nothing unusual).

Ah, okay. My bad.

My guess is that the heat from the engine could cause a small degree of distortion, making it look kind of out of focus. Who knows =\

No harm done.
And since the engine is bound to be idling what with that Valendamned moose in the way, I doubt it's producing all that much heat, most of which would affect the surroundings way BEHIND the cockpit anyway.
As I said, it's entirely possible it's nothing more than the paint scheme or me imagining things.
