So, my tree's up and the LED lights are burning. I'm pulling out the garlands and the decorations to make our Christmas jolly. The Xmas cards to family are done, and anyone who wants Xmas cards from me, PM me your addy. Nit's got family in England and France I'm mailing to, so sending things airmail is no problem.

That's a pretty cool idea, actually.

Now I feel a little lame for just putting up a Christmas avatar, but that reminds me that I should start sending out cards because everyone likes receiving something in the mail.

I have to start early to make sure the Overseas mail gets there in time :)

Since we're not going to be in town for Xmas, Nitram's trying to keep my decorations to a minimum. As such, I've yet to change over the tablecloth, the candles, and yet to take down all the knicknacks and exchange them for the Xmas stuff.

Besides... since we've moved, we don't have the big mantlepiece to hang stockings and such on. I'm going to have to figure out where to put the angels, the teddybears, and all the other decorations I have gathered over the decades. :sad:

Still, as part of the 'minimalism' Nit's enforcing, I've managed to leave the tree with only the colored lights (LEDs) and the Special Ornaments that I've inherited or been gifted over the years. Like my bells. I have to have the bells on the tree. And my Xmas Unicorn. Have to have that, even if the horn's been damaged somehow. The mirror-ornament has to be hung as well -- that was Mawmaw's.

I wish now my Ex hadn't been a bastard and denied me access to the attic. I had all of my Mawmaw's ornaments there, things that were 40-50yrs old.

Waitaminute. I'M alien for not bothering with Christmas decorations or a tree to begin with but Her Ladyship gets away with LEDs on her Christmas tree?
Yes, I don't care a damn about Christmas (other than it annoying the living hell out of me) but even I know a PROPER Christmas tree has real candles.
The cat jumping into the tree to play with the decorations and setting the whole thing afire is half the fun.

You're obviously doing something wrong. The cat is supposed to jump at the tree to play with the shiny baubles, accidentally knock over a candle or two, get a few branches ablaze, and run away when you douse the scene with water, the only damage done being a few scorched branches, a small puddle on the floor (which should be covered in plastic anyway) and a miffed cat.
