Something about farmers and inertia, I think.

Yeah, back when America was primarily an agrarian-based economy, it made sense.

We're not anymore, and haven't been for a while. We need to let this whole "fucking with time lol" thing go.

And I'm not saying that just because I got screwed for sleep last night because of it. However, that is most of it.

Farmers is the current excuse, but there are other things claimed like maintaining daylight longer in the active part of the day reduces power usage and thus coal-oil consumption. IIRC DST was even permanently enacted during WWI just for this purpose; to encourage reduction of fuel consumption by extending the daylight hours into the evening.

And if I recall correctly the idea that doing the whole DST thing saving money was dis-proven.
